From a research paper (it appears to be an accurate predictor of autistic-like behavior):

Discussion
AS predicted, adults with AS/HFA scored significantly higher on AQ than matched controls. 80% scored above a critical minimum of 32+, whereas only 2% of controls did so. This demonstrates that the AQ has reasonable face validity, since the questionnaire purports to measure autistic spectrum traits, and people with a diagnosis involving these traits score highly.

We wish to underline that the AQ is not diagnostic, but may serve as a useful instrument in identifying the extent of autistic traits shown by an adult of normal intelligence. A score of 32+ appears to be a useful cut-off for distinguishing individuals who have clinically significant levels of autistic traits. Such a high score on the AQ however does not mean an individual has AS or HFA, since a diagnosis is only merited if the individual is suffering a clinical level of distress as a result of their autistic traits.

I scored 30.

I would probably be higher if not for the questions on rote learning. I prefer abstract thinking to rote learning. The criteria might be biased in that respect. There's this false perception by NT's that we, "lack depth" just because our interests are esoteric to them. It's offensive because I know I'm a much deeper thinker than 99% of people. Most people understand issues on a rather shallow emotional level while I like to cut to the root.

37.

Some of the questions annoyed me - such as "Do you prefer the library or a party." You can only select agree or disagree, you can't explain why. I prefer a party, so that's an NT answer. But you see, my library is very crowded and full of people. You can never get a seat and if you do, it's probably next to someone. I don't want to sit next to a stranger. When I check out a book, I have to deal with a librarian. I don't like the library. I like parties...because there's usually FOOD there!! When I think of a party, I think of all the nice things I am going to eat. I don't care who is there, I care what food will be there. So you see, when I answer that I prefer the party to a library, I am answering for a very Aspie reason. But the test will take one of my Aspie points away because they assume I like the social situation of a party. A lot of those questions are not black and white.

44, and some of the questions annoy me because they're so vague. "I notice details that others do not".. that'll be true of anyone! NTs will notice social things that Aspies won't, and Aspies will notice patterns that NTs don't.

I scored 40. I too found some of the questions difficult to interpret.

Not sure about remembering phone numbers. They take a while to sink in but when there they seem to last forever - I can still remember the old phone numbers of houses I lived at twenty years ago, however if someone reads out a phone number to me I've usually forgotten it two minutes later. I also used to know pi to 150 decimal places (as a kid) but most of that has faded over the years except for around 30 decimal places.

The question about looking at fine detail or the big picture was a problem too because while I always analyse things into the finest detail I then look for overall patterns that put all the small detail into a biggest possible picture.

Also not sure about the playing games requiring imagination with kids. I don't have any kids but dislike playing with kids of relatives - they are too noisy and illogical. I much more prefer relating on a serious and factual basis game wise rather than with imagination. However, I do have a very vivid imagination and could probably write a decent sci-fi or fantasy novel if I set my mind to it. So I'm confused.

i scored a 35

but there are real issues with this test....

some people with special interests in socialisation would get kicked down the spectrum...

people who hate other people would get kicked up...

50 questions i s not enough

You know what.. anyone who had an issue with this test's wording/question choice should get an automatic aspie card...

just saying, that should be the true test here...
