I don't mind talking on the phone to a close friend. My friends all live a long way away, and email is inconvenient for a couple of them. We'll chat for hours.

But, I hate talking to people I don't know. I once had a job where I had to call people. I got used to it but the first few weeks were difficuilt. (This is the same job where I had to learn to shake hands.)

I hate answering phones at work, because the person on the other end always has some weird question or is illogical. Fortunately, my new office doesn't have a phone. Ha, I scored! This also has the benefit that people have to climb a flight of stairs to bug me, so they only do it when they have no choice.

I despise cell phones. I can't stand people who use them and talk talk talk like I want to hear their stupid conversations. I don't have a cell phone, because if I'm out, I don't want to be bothered by a phone call, I'm doing something. I borrowed a cell phone once when on vacation, and I hated it. I got called when I was driving, and I won't be one of those stupid people who talk while driving. Then it rang when I was in a store, and I felt like an ass for answering it and bothering the people around me. Plus I don't want other people to know my business and overhear the call.

I really hate answering machines. (Well, I don't mind having one myself to screen calls, although I haven't had mine plugged in for a year or two.) I was going to go to a therapist to try to get diagnosed, but they never answered their phone, and I wouldn't leave a message on their answering machine. I hate how I sound when I talk to a machine. I know I sound awkward.

Now that I have a computer at home, people complain that I never can be reached because I'm always online. (I keep my machine running all the time to download anime.) I don't see a problem, they should just email me. Phones are just good to connect my computer to the internet.

A lot of times when I move, I won't reconnect my phone for weeks or months afterward. It's just not important to me.

I hate bill collectors. Especially since all the calls from bill collectors I get aren't for me (although I am glad, too, that they're not for me). Apparently, the last person who had my newer phone number is quite in debt.

I am not particularly keen on phones too. When I was working it was probably the one thing I feared the most, having to answer the phone.

When the phone rings at home I do not answer it unless I recognize the caller's number.

Michael.

I am the same way and if I need to make a phone call I usually get someone else to do it for me. Sometimes I will call my mom though and I can force myself to use the phone in emergencies.
