No, sometimes I can shut my brian off. But I'd say 75-85% of the time I am.

Yup. My brain has no off button. Even when I'm sleeping I'm still deep in thoughts. The only way to prevent that would be a lack of a power source, in this case, that's oxygen, but I'm not sure I want to go there.

I'm either thinking about what I'm going to do next.
Some possible future scenerio.
What I really feel like eating. It's ok, I'm only 55kg.
Some scenes for my novel. Most of my day is taken up by this. If I didn't think of this at night I will never fall alseep, or be able to write the next day.
Having arguments with people in my head.
Oh, now I'm on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. How'd I get there?
And where did Jared Leto come from?
Oh, I should download that album.
The house is so quiet. Where did everybody go?
I'm hungry...

And I stare at a lot of objects, intensely, and analyse them. Maybe how they were made or what they are made out of, or I'll just look at the lines around them. Lines are cool.

It's no wonder I'm medicated.

my mind is constantly thinking, and it’s not like just one of them, there seems to be several people in my head , no I’m not schizophrenic ) I don’t hear voices.

They have their own personality, their opinions; they are constantly talking and learning about new things.

I am able to rely on them to take over when I am dealing with stuff that I don’t understand or when my mind is on something else, but when I “listen in”, it’s obvious they have been learning stuff and organising things in my absence.

nope, it is a different Quote...

a Gold star to the first person to work out who said it and where you will find it :P

It is often claimed that Descartes was the first to use the phrase, but he actually wrote in French and what he said was ‘Je pense donc je suis’ (I think thus I am ) in his book Discourse on Method published in 1637.
The argument Cogito ergo sum was not actually said in his book Meditations published in 1641 but he did mention the idea “Cogito” it is based on. He didn’t use the whole phrase in any published works until 1644.
Augustine of Hippo: beat him to it with a more accurate statement
"Si...fallor, sum"
"If I am mistaken, I am"

Edit to add. unless of course you mean "flange of Baboons" which comes from Gerald The Intelligent Gorilla.

My thoughts are constantly racing around my head, my brain doesn't seem to have an off switch. The good thing about that is that I always think of things that others dont, I definatly think 'outside the box'. The bad thing about this is that I can become a little paranoid because my brain has conjured up too many possibilities for certain situations. Does that make sense?

I used to be able to achieve a state of mental emptiness during my teen years and wish I could do so now. Otherwise my brain is always running at warp speed.

I can't stop thinking either. The only "off button" I have is loud music, and that doesn't quite get me to sleep either.

My brain is always thinking. It's like I'm always having conversations with my brain (but without the verbal speaking). When I'm walking along, I always seem to be having a full-blown conversation, or sometimes even an argument, inside my head. Sometimes I accidentally show facial expressions when I'm thinking like this - which I've got to try not to do. I've even accidentally found myself miming words, which I had to immediately stop too.

When I'm sitting on the bus, I listen to my MP3 (which relaxes me when in public), but sometimes about 2 or 3 songs could start and finish without me even hearing it, because I got too lost in my own thoughts, and so I've found myself having to listen to the ones I wasn't listening to all over again, only trying to keep my brain quiet while I'm listening to the songs. It's really annoying. I wish my brain would shut up! :)

I'm also one of those who has to take sedatives at night because my brain did not come with an off switch.
How can someone NOT think all the time? Since I have never been this way, it's baffling to me.

Yes.

It seems I'm always thinking, and I'm thinking in parallel with myself, by watching myself think what I think. (I seem to find cognitive biases this way.)

Just by stepping outside, I can notice the neighbor's dog and wonder 'what is the canine experience?' What is life through a dogs eyes? Do they think ? If they twitch and yelp while sleeping , then are they capable of imagination, thus thinking ? Sure.

I don't have warp speed raciness as many with AS seem to have, but I run a parallel track of thinking of how I think when I think which is maybe too often.

I'm thinking :P this is the pitfall of deep introversion. I watched a program on Carl Jung with these types of personalities, and the extreme extroverts, ( one was interviewed) , said he couldn't think his way out of a paper bag if his life depended on it.

I think things could be worse :P

See my post (link below) in a related thread posted by someone on the same day. I am just now getting off the meds and there are a few tips listed there... at least what seems to help me.
