This is all very interesting!! Thanks for posting this alba. I was born during a time when Saturn and Uranus squared one another (Saturn in Cancer, Uranus in Libra)... anyway, as far as the mutable type, I would think that those with ADHD would have a large amount of the mutable quality. Out of interest what does the book say about those who have a large amount of cardinal and fixed? My son and I have more of the cardinal quality (fixed and mutable for us is pretty much even). My daughter has ADHD and mostly mutable.

Anyway to answer your question...
i'm just wondering if we will ever figure out a way to use autism so as to be a benefit to society as opposed to being an annoyance to the NT community and potential depletion of energy and resources.

Unfortunately many "NT"'s don't understand autism and continue to believe the stereotypes... but definitely there are less like that today than in the past. I think that trine between Saturn and Uranus helped with that to some degree, getting the awareness of neurodiversity out there. But I honestly think to really, really change the views of the "NT" community about autism, Pluto will have to be involved. And in 2012 Uranus will be squaring Pluto which will be brutal, but at the same time Saturn in Scorpio will be sextiling Pluto during the later part of the year and well into 2013. This is when the ascension is supposed to happen in 2012, the later part anyway. Pluto squaring Uranus and Saturn sextiling Pluto is going to be powerful for everyone and I think this is the time that the "NT" community will be forced to open their eyes.. putting it lightly. I also notice that in November 2012 Saturn will be quincunxing Uranus, that in itself is going to compel people to make adjustments within themselves.. anyway I am sure during that time, the "NT" community will be changing their views about neurodiversity without any options.

discovered a great website
www.neurodiversity.com/positive.html

gives around 85 links for a positive approach to autism
.....for instance this: stimming. lots of autistics say it's a calming thing and helps them 'synchronize with the sensory input all around them'.
.....that idea of stimming explains why i always found it calmed me to watch young autistic children flapping their hands and spinning plates...and that was decades before i knew i was aspie.

i've just begun research on the history of autism and so much of this is speculation.... based on the aspect list.... btw the aspect list is compiled only from exact to the minute aspects between saturn and uranus.

the following needs confirmation:

from 1942 to 1965 very little was known about autism, it was most likely considered a mental illness and disease causing both physical and mental impairment. it was probably also seen as inseparable from mental retardation. when exactly the concept of autistic savant, as well as Aspergers, developed may have indicated a major breakthrough. although not necessarily until more of the puzzle pieces of autism were brought together. diagnosticians often mistook autism for schizophrenia. by the time awareness of ADD and ADHD emerged, diagnosticians also confused it with the autism spectrum. apparently some experts believe autism is closely related to both schizophrenia and ADD/ADHD, and while differentiable from them...is often difficult to diagnose.

from 1965 to 1975 negative views of autism probably began to take hold and become firmly entrenched. by 1975 autism was in its dark ages, looking at the astrological aspects. it was a battle and an ordeal to make the transition from 1975 to 2002-03 as theories and public attitudes toward autism gradually shifted into neutral, occasionally daring toward the slightly positive.

in 1975 the Dark Ages of Autism may have begun. negative stance toward autism had probably been steadily building since the 1940s and by 1975 the shackles were on. those shackles weren't officially pried off until 1998 when the term neurodiversity was coined by Australian disability activist Judy Singer. the Dark Ages of Autism lasted approximately mid-1970s to mid-1990s, perhaps the equivalent of a generation 20 years. estimating we started to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel a few years prior to 1998. by as early as the mid-80s there may already have been greater public receptivity to viewing autism with a more neutral or positive attitude. but it was most likely socially unacceptable to do so until the 90s. so prior to the 90s extremely negative views of autism were prevalent.

in 2002-03, all bets were off on trashing the autism spectrum while activists began in earnest to empower LFAs as well as HFAs. since then there's been some controversy about whether Aspergers in particular is a negative or a positive, gift or curse. and with the 2nd series of oppositions between saturn and uranus on the virgo/pisces axis 2008-09, everything we know about autism will be thoroughly reviewed and possibly reinvented. positive reform as well as the advent of freedom and respect could be on the horizon. however those on the spectrum also face possible genocide and extinction. undoubtedly our fate will be decided in the next decade and the fateful astrological die will most likely be cast this year 2009 with the final oppposition of saturn-uranus on 9-15-09.

even today, parents often have dismal attitudes toward their autistic children. one of the links on the neuordiversity website at beginning of this post is Don't Mourn For Us: A Letter To Parents.

think about this for a minute...

we have this one star. absolutely everything we do, think, feel, create, imagine, and aspire toward is oriented around this one star. our entire lives revolve quite literally around this one star. that one star is our sun and as it is literally located at the core of our being, it orchestrates our existence and who we are.

in beautiful concentric orbits, at least 9 known planets revolve about our sun: the tiniest orbit is occupied by mercury, then comes venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune and the greatest orbit of all is occupied by intimidating pluto. pluto's orbit forms the boundary or the limits of our existence as we rotate about our core, our 'soul' in a way. it is pluto that keeps us all in line and its lessons are always excruciatingly painful. that is until we willingly relinquish our egos.

like clockwork, at regular intervals orbits are completed by each planet as it rotates around the sun. with the completion of every revolution of every planet around our sun, the energies present in our solar system are intensified, reaffirmed and drummed out like the beat of some unique dance of light, unique to our own special solar system. the energies of these planets and the geometrical relationships formed between them---may or may not affect our lives, may or may not be critical.

i think they are. in fact i think that if there is a soul of any kind anywhere, it is our sun. because the sun is the center of our existence, and scientifically speaking, we may never know any other kind of existence - ever.

what you see is what you get. we may not literally see all the planets in our solar system but we know they are there. and earth is the 3rd planet. yeah. we're number 3. awesome. 3 of 9.

i've spent more than half my life trying to figure out if there is anything to astrology and [for me] undoubtedly there is. a hundred years from now, if humans haven't self annihilated, quantum theory will be common knowledge. kids in kindergarten will have a basic knowledge of it because their parents, siblings and teachers will show them how it works. astrology will be recombined with astronomy and astronomy will be united with parallel universe theory. we will harness anti-matter for the first time in the history of the solar system. well, maybe not the first time, maybe not even the first time for number 3 of 9. and we will attempt to retrieve the antiquated fragments of astrology still remaining in the texts which have survived book burning fanatics.

but where autism fits into all this is anyone's guess. my special interest is astrology and my sun is exactly conjunct uranus, to the degree and within a few minutes. consciousness is ruled by uranus and saturn. saturn represents ego and it has to be shattered before uranian energies can function unimpeded. mercury rules primitive mind including the conducting of business affairs. mercury rules the signs gemini and virgo and is exalted in virgo which is the most intelligent and geeky sign.

i would say look to virgo if you want to know about the top end of the autism spectrum.

This is all very poetic, but I can't seem to mine any meaning out of it.
