I'm not sure but it certainly shouldn't be above 18. It's pretty twisted someone can vote (Helping choose the government is a bigger responsibility than drinking) or join the military and be sent to die in Iraq but can't enjoy a beer? I think the age 21 in the US has more to do with the continued puritanical influence than anything else.

Laws are a bit interesting here with that. You can drink underage, you just can't serve an underage drinker. Has to do with preserving culture, although most parents prefer to observe the legal drinking age, and not allow their child to drink under it.

Couldn't do that here, youth fare applies to 5 year olds and younger... and its free...

Well, here it's against the law to drink under 21 - and there were parents even given severe prison sentences (more than 5 years) for letting their kids drink.

I've heard of parents getting in trouble because they had a party where they supplied several teenagers with booze and some of the teens ended up in the ER because they drank too much but I've never heard of anyone getting arrested because they gave their sixteen year old a beer. It has to be serious.

Nobody wound up in the ER in this case.

Call it to the attention of the management.

I have only ever been there once before, and didnt get IDed because I didn't order any alcohol, and neither did the guys I was with.
