Aspiegirl89, I wrote that because there's a little bird where I work that is sooo tertitorial ! ! My boss, Mister Scrooge, will be shouting about someone, and I'm looking past him, watching this tiny bird fluttering around defending it's 'turf'.

Not too weird, since virtually every normal word is derived from some other language. The word "cat" for example, virtually universally sounds like "cat" or the sound a cat makes.

lol! This bird was fluffing itself to impress another bird that was inside a bush across the sidewalk near the school library I was sitting in. It really was quite amusing to watch their antics. I was just laughing too hard to explain it to anyone else!

YMBAAI

... you are convinced that the song "wonderful, wonderful" by johnny mathis is so eerie because you heard it on the X-Files...

... you have a big luggage full of unfinished poems (which stinks by now), and you get really mad when others call it garbage...

... you have 5 dictionary programs sitting in your computer but still use google to check your spelling, vocabulary and grammar...

... long ago, you borrowed books from your school library and did not return them, and you told the librarian that you lost them when in fact you just didn't want to them returned because of a certain attachment with those books, and your mother had be summoned to pay for them, and...

... that happened twice or more :D

... after an hour or more reading posts at wrongplanet.net, you whisper "ok, now back to work"...

God, so glad I'm not the only one who gets this... I also get phases where I look at a word and it just looks so...wrong and strange

agreed! and I wonder abot the roots and meanings and why THAT PARTICULAR WORD was chosen to name the object that it does. Like why are noses noses? It's a random word; do you know anything close to "nose" that makes sense? no...

well, i can't explain my thought process, but it is quite exhausting once I hit one of those moments..lol.

Or if certain words get strung together haphazardly, but sound good. I go around repeating a nonsense phrase, and sometimes forget there's NT's within hearing range ! ! Oh well, I'm autistic, ya know ...

I get that too. Then I repeat it out loud for a while. It's the most random words too. Like couch or wall or cheese.

Sometimes a properly spelled word "looks" wrong to me and I am wondering why my spell checker
doesn't red-line it.

If TwoShed's avatar says 1000 words about your life.

Stunning, TwoSheds!

And to TwoSheds: Do you do your composing in the shed?

Thanx to Ticker for the avatar head up.

You've used your computer to calculate pi to a billion digits.... twice...

...and then you were bummed that no text editor you have can open a 1.3GB .txt file without crashing. I mean seriously Microsoft and Open Office Org, why did you have to drop the ball like that? You never know when someone will want to open a 370,000 page document....

... you're afraid of a harmless chandelier, yet can't imagine why someone would be afraid of a monster under the bed.
