Wow... I have to say, this has devolved a bit :P. I honestly think that it's pointless to try to convince someone who's set on a particular opinion; all we can report is our impressions of the video, which happen to match the ones the target audience would have. But I assume if one has a different gut reaction to that video, that's not very convincing...

I would like to say, however, that if you really believes then woman is meant to be the Aspie, then you should spend much more time watching how people interact. This video requires fairly low-level social intuition; I think perhaps figuring out what is and isn't normal would be a good skill to work on.

I don't mean any offence by that, but unfortunately, it's important to learn how other people see things...

That's exactly the problem - that the one meant to be the NT does not look like one, and the one meant to be the Aspie comes out much less inappropriate than her. This is a very serious issue, because this video is used to educate the population. Turns out the ones making the video and doing the education are as ignorant or more than the ones who supposedly need to be educated.

It is plain clear who they want us to think is the Aspie. What's not clear is which one the Aspie really is.

I agree. I can't believe how long this debate has been going back and forth.

The woman might be seen as more normal but she seems like a b**ch to me. She didn't treat the autistic guy right and calling him a "perv" was uncalled for.

The girl was scary. I know how the guy was feeling though. That is very scary, and then once i;ve made a mistake and misunderstanding is had, they usually say something nasty like she did. Then I feel sad and ashamed.

So the film-makers have succeeded in their aim. I, and 61 others on this thread to date, don't see the problem.

Could be either, neither or both. When we watch them in this film they are both acting.

The man, because he tries to introduce himself to everyone when he's meant to be following someone. Also the video implies he is overwhelmed, and he doesn't think not to lean forward to read the name tag.

However, it's stuff like this that makes me think that AS is just how you think of yourself - the girl doesn't respond at first, and seems rude when she does, and doesn't shut up even though the man is not paying attention - all could be ASD things but the man is more obviously ASD.

I always put name tags up by my collar bone for this reason - if women put name tags on the chest the same as men do, you cannot read a woman's name tag without looking at her breasts which is innapropriate. Women are strange about this, I think. They will wear something (a nametag, a tshirt with picture or writing, etc) that will draw people's attention to their breasts and then say "Don't look at my breasts!" If I wear a top with a picture on it I assume if people are looking at my chest they are looking at the picture.

I've seen other 'Think differently' videos and I think they exaggerate how 'bad' NTs are. Some NTs are intelligent and nice!

Even though I don't agree with how the video is presented, I do admit that it gets one point across. Asperger's causes misunderstandings between people. This video is just a few scenes, but what is happening in it can lead to all kinds of devestating decisions that can affect both people in the video. He could report her for being rude, not doing her job and calling him unwarranted names which could detrimentally affect her career. She could call the police on him, even though that's pretty extreme, and, perhaps get him in trouble with the law, all over a misunderstanding between the two.
The sequel to this video could indeed be a scary one.
