The key issue here is choice. You have the choice to avoid cigarette smoke in your home, car, workplace or whatever. (Frankly a whiff of smoke in an outdoor setting now and then will not cause cancer so that is a non-issue). You have the choice to avoid junk food and beer. I'm all for bodily integrity and physical privacy, but...

I was not given the choice. I could not escape the situation, avoid it or make it go away. This was something forced on me over and over again for months. Just when I thought it was over and I had survived, I was re-victimized by his best friend. Don't you think I would have chosen differently had I been able to? Don't you understand the difference? The only reason you can equate having to breathe someone's cigarette smoke to rape is because you have not been raped. (I would also say that you don't know anyone who has been raped, either...but statistically since it happens to about 1 in 4 women, if you know 4 women, you probably know a sexual assault survivor.)

I repeat my suggestion that you spend some time listening to trauma survivors before equating Big Macs and Marlboro's with sexual predators.

So where does your obvious lack of empathy for rape victims fit in Barney? Is that rape? It is by your definition. Are you a proud rapists Barney?
You can't see your arguments are down right offensive to many but they are. For some they just make it harder to deal with things like PTSD etc. that are a result of ACTUALLY BEING RAPED when they see you and others using the word rape in such a flippant way to back some view on the world that has nothing to do with rape in its general terms of usage as a word.

The truth is the only reason the word rape is being associated with the other things you don't like in the world here is because of the emotions that the word rape evokes. You want the same emotions evoked to try and get people as upset about the things you are and are trying to use a cheap trick to do it. The thing is these emotions come from the fact REAL RAPE ie. sexual assault, is an abhorrent thing.and to equate it to the things you have is shameful.

That would be the WHO report that deliberately and misleadingly ignored the findings of its own researchers and altered the facts to suit their own agenda.

Similarly, the EPA published a report stating that "Passive smokers are 25% more likely to develop a smoking related diseaese."

This sounds fairly horrifying, until you discover that the chances of someone who isn't a passive smoker developing such a disease are 1:100,000. Rape is a very specific form of crime against an individual. I believe I can speak for smokers everywhere when I ask you to please refrain from labelling us inappropriately as 'rapists'.

He (yes, it's not even a girl, just a closet troll who likes to cyber-bully) changes his names from time to time but he always poses as a rape victim and his contributions always somewhere include rape.

I've been sexually assulted, though not raped, and that was bad enough. I'd take public smoking over that any day of the week.
