AUTISM, and religion
The bible says that God, by existing, holds the universe together. It follows, therefore, that if God were to cease to exist, to "die" as it were, that the whole of creation would cease to exist. That would include all of the souls in Hell and the devils who torment them. as well as all of the suffering people who now live. Christians make much of the notion that Christ died to save us, but it seems like smoke and mirrors since so many still go to Hell. It would seem that if God wanted to do us a favor and end suffering He would have died in a much more meaningful manner. If he had truly died, then we would ALL be free of the pestilent curse of existence. ![]()

There are many different religions on planet earth - year 2010, not just one.

Christianity is a liberal variation on Judaism. Without Judaism (Symphony 1), there would be no Christianity (Symphony 2).
In terms of symbolism/allegory, there is a religious science fiction movie which takes place under the movie device/literary device of a dream:

My personal view today is that many non-profit religions are only veiled, camouflaged political parties which can be quite ruthless in their race for the collection plate money: no questions allowed - convert or die so to speak.
A number of non-profit religions subscribe to the old, outdated, political idea of an extremist monarchy which is 100% opposite of the idea of America/the USA.
A number of non-profit religions hate women.

Asperger: It it possible some religious leaders have had Asperger/Asperger-like traits perhaps like singlemindness to convert/take over the entire earth, then, planet by planet, the entire universe? Ultimate goal: All the world's collection plate money goes into the wallet of the religious leader? Other?
Autism: Taking things literally vs taking things symbolically/poetically

some this that is not 'predict able'
nothing can come before it.
It comes out of nothing.
Random is such a thing, random is not predictable.
They is how something can come out of nothing.
Random, comes from nothing and results in something(that is determinant, and a few other things too).
When thinking about reality, it is important to think about reality and not what it in it.
Measurements are transcendental, you can't get a completely truthful result, by comparing two things that are transcendental.

Here is the thing though. People SHOULD be able to practice their religions as long as they dont force it down others throats. And as ive somewhat stated, human nature wouldnt allow it. Really, for it to work your gonna need very strict laws in order to keep the fragile peace. And as I said, I find atheists guilty of the same entire thing, a large portion are just as ignorant of peoples basic rights. I have witnesses quite a few in my time doing everything in their damn power to dehumanize those who do have beliefs of some sort.
In Iran people should have looked to the past and put up measures to prevent their problems from happening. Regardless of your arguement, I still think the real solution has to be a compromise. Totally f**k over one side of the arguement and you WILL have those who resent it to its roots.
So what if you try to critise the "Illogicalness" of it all. Humans dont follow rules of logic and reason. And really, If the answe4r matters so much, the answer itself could be a source of a huge amount of violence if it favors one side over the other. Truest me, Humans tend to react in that capacity.
My main point being to this whole debate: Regardless of the existence or non-existence. People need to learn to not stamp on others beliefs, and I can say with certainty, both sides are guilty of it.
Well, I think you're right for the most part. And I think the American founding fathers found that balance, and those strict laws when they decided to prohibit government from passing any laws either establishing or prohibiting religion. In this country, government and religion are supposed to be separate, precisely so that people can believe whatever they want, but cannot force their beliefs down others' throats. It's both freedom of religion AND freedom from religion. It's served this country well for more than 200 years.
But apparently that's not good enough for some religious people, who want to turn this into a "Christian Country" in the same way that clerics turned Iran into an "Islamic Republic". I've never heard atheists say they want to turn America into an atheist country and ban religion. Never heard it. But a lot of Christians want forced Christian prayer in every school, want the 10 Commandments posted everywhere, want a big-ass cross on top of every mountain and hill and want to criminalize abortion, porn, prostitution, homosexuality, pre-marital and extra-marital sex, and put severe restrictions on freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc.
Frankly, I think freethinkers have good cause to be worried.
and really even though I dont follow a specific faith, I am about 50/50 for and against public displays of affection for only one reason. It is because I personally know a large amount of singles who get highly irritated to hell because of it. Its simply a respect for singles thing in my book. Consider that wrong, I honestly don't give a f**k.
I think I know what you mean here, but could you elaborate a bit? Maybe an example or two?
For the first quoted part, yeah, I am a firm believer of what the founding fathers have tried. It has worked for a long while but even as you have said, you have the extreme fundamentalists out and about now. I honestly think the real reason they are out now more than ever is because of the conflict in the middle east. They view it as a chance to get their messages out more than ever.
as for my thing about open displays of affection, I am more or less thinking along the lines of limited contact while out in the open. No snogging nonstop, basically rules that many schools have had on the subject. It may not necessarily be enforcable, but it would hopefully lessen the stigma for singles a bit, because we all know that there are plenty that get extremely jealous and s**t when they see the open displays constantly. However, keep in mine this would in no way affect dress or anything, its just simply to keep a bit of control on behaviors in order to at least enforce some room of respect for those who are single.

There's an alternative.
If you snog one person, you then have to snog at least ten other people. (or possibly ten other people get to line up!)
Should help mitigate against the jealousy problems.

Still, just saying, not everyone wants to see it. But yeah, your attempt at humor is appreciated.

If they don't want to see it, they should not look and turn away.
If they want it to happen to them, then they should be allowed to join in.
Giving others confidence.
In many countries kissing is actually a greeting.
Maybe their aren't enough 'French kisses' and that's the issue, not that there are too many.

The human Psyche generally doesnt work that way however, and you can't always avoid it either. The greeting part I myself dont necessarily mind however, as long as it isnt some absolute stranger. For myself, a lot of times the put-off to me is the actual sounds more than the imagery, and sounds are difficult to ignore, especially people with hypersensitive hearing such as myself. My only wish with it is that people should be able to exercise self-control over themselves, but as I said, the human psyche doesnt necessarily allow for it.

'The human Psyche'
I'm not sure what you mean?
Romans liked to throw Christians to the lions, have orgies etc...
Greeks sex with anything, lots of nudity, small male members.
For gods, I would have to go with Odin, not only did he pluck out his own eye for knowledge, he also hung himself from a tree and stabbed himself with a magic spear to learn about suffering. Way more hardcore than jesus.
Thór's Beard! This is exactly what I was going to say. I suppose it shouldn't be shocking. I was thinking of asking if most aspie's are atheist, given that religions are largely based on group-think/ herd mentalities, hence the deaths by stoning (judgement by crowds).
Also there's the mathematical tendancies stereotypical to autism (is this accurate? I'm only guessing), which would suggest irreligiousness, since the only way to be religious is to be ignorant of basic mathematics. Exemplum gratia: to cover the earth in water to the top of the highest mountain in forty days and forty nights would take fifteen foot of rain per hour. This is more than sufficient to destroy any building you care to name and sink air-craft carriers.
- no, the story was never intended as a metaphor. That's a Victorian myth, not accepted by a single Theologian. Middle Age scholars actually wondered if there were fish on board the arc (it said every animal!).
I don't know if any of the religious would care to reply, as those I've met have a tendency to block out things they don't like, but if so, I would honestly like to know the reasons someone could pick one religion over another. I've read more holy texts than your average church congregation combined from a great variety of religions (Taoism is far superior to Christianity in every respect, but mostly in brevity, with Hinduism a close second). Why pick this one? Of all the world's options, why the one you were born to?
And as an aside - why do Christians never read their own holy texts? I think it's just plain disrespectful to push a book you've only bothered to leaf through on your days off.

Mainly stating that human nature doesnt support self-control/self-discipline much. And what the f**k is so damn great about orgies, really. If I had sex, id rather it be intimate with one other person, Id rather not f*****g share, increases risk of STDs and s**t.

Haha... why is this the common Christian way to be a dick? I don't see it as peaceful mediation, but a holier than thou approach. Can you really make these statements without truly knowing the guy? It sounds arrogant and the only reason I bring it up is it sounds like something my father would say and he's only been a christian for 3 years. I see anger or a better than approach to the wording of the quote. If you were truly preaching peaceful mediation... why not try ignoring words you deem harsh. Most people lose steam if you let them go off and give them no credit for their efforts. Speaking down to somebody only states that you want to come out on top.

OK, yeah. I remember this from middle school - one day the principal made an address over the public announcement system condemning students who kiss or make out in the hallways. I thought it was kinda funny - I was never bothered by such displays. Well, maybe only because I didn't see much of it and/or never saw a girl I was interested in getting slobbered all over in public?
In any case, I guess you're right - it's a good idea not to do this sort of thing in public, if only to avoid trouble from anyone who might be offended.
It reminds me of the problem faced by gay people or interracial couples who even just hold hands in public, or seem overly friendly with each other in public - some people can become dangerously outraged by this. A friend of mine (white guy) who was just walking down the street w/ an Asian girl in China had rocks thrown at him. Similar hostility (even if not taken to that extreme) is common in other East Asian countries, like Japan, Korea and Vietnam.
So yeah - good idea to be VERY non-affectionate in public.
