I sleep on a sleep number bed, my back sorta needs it. I have a thick sweat-absorbing cover underneath my mattress cover, that is the extent of my bed fancy.

That's totally plausible, auntblabby. I don't ever wonder about it, though.

Re: the princess and the pea - I can totally tell the difference between a 225 and 250 TC sheet. It may be one of my savant abilities. ;) :lmao:

I think it's a sensory thing for me. I don't like sleeping rough. I like the soft, crisp feeling of pure cotton with a high TC and none of this 'cotton blend' bs they try to sell you as 'cotton blend 1000TC'. Nope. No polyester in my bed. I'm so much a bed snob that I even shave my legs specifically so they feel nice in my bed. Nobody ever sees my legs because I have to cover completely due to my sun sensitivity, but my bed sees my legs, and my high TC sheets feel great on shaved legs.

I'm similarly picky about the material I wear on my body. I bleeding hate polyester with a passion. The cutest clothing item in the world isn't worth draping myself in that nastiness.

I am not really bothered by the sensation of showering/bathing...for me its more of an issue of getting around to it, but I also do not think it is necessary to do it every day. Basically when I feel like i need refreshing I take a shower or if its been hot out, I've exerted myself....but then sometimes I go longer than I probably should without showering especially when my depressions bad because its hard to really motivate myself at all to bother.

Satin is usually gross nylon/poly and/or sateen blend. Silk satin I might entertain, even though I highly doubt I would ever be financial enough to afford such a sheet. I'd love to afford real linen sheets for my bed, but those things are remarkably expensive. I'm a fabric purist. :D

This is why I have to be clean when I get in my bed. My bed is a pristine, natural environment. :lmao:

I had some, and I did not like the feel of them and the sliding around.

I would like to experience the slippery sensation, the frictionless tossing and turning that satin seems to promise.

'The promise of satin.' Hahahaha. I'd probably slide out of the bed.

I'd slide outta the bed if there was an earthquake or somethin' like that. or if a giant squeezed me outta the bed like a tube of toothpaste.

There's a lot more to it than thread count. I'll take a relatively low count flannel sheet over a high count percale sheet any day of the week.

I'm a lot pickier about towels than sheets. Also, I wash my bath towels after every use.

I take a bath or shower every day. I take the view that since I'm a bit of a lardbucket, it's the least I can do to make myself seem presentable. I can't be bothering my arse with deodorant every day though. It just isn't necessary.

in the winter months when I'm hermitted away indoors, the only thing that will make me shower is so I can go into town on Saturday to grocery shop and not gross everybody out. in the summer months though, daily showering is mandatory as I cannot sleep with sticky greasy sweat on my body.

Yes, there is, you're right. That's why I won't buy 'cotton rich' sheets. I would much prefer a low count flannel sheet to a high count percale. You're speaking my language. I barely wash our towels once every two weeks, but then again we don't shower all that often. :lmao:

I usually shower every other day & my doc thinks that's a good idea because of my dry skin this winter. I usually don't do a whole lot that would get me dirty.

The reason I only use towels once before washing them is so that I don't spread athlete's foot to other parts of the body by using a towel that had been used to dry my feet. I can get rid of the athlete's foot problem easily enough, about two or three weeks treatment with the right medication and it's gone, but it doesn't take all that long to grow back. So when I dry myself off, I dry myself off from the top down and then toss the towel in with the dirty clothes.

That makes good sense! I used to have a terrible problem with that when I was young, to the point my toes used to crack and bleed, but it cleared up with no explanation, thankfully. You wouldn't want that fungus traveling around your body, it's a horrible thing.
