No, I’ve always been very proper. Surprisingly, I never actually picked up a Texas accent. But I don’t sound like the people here in Indy either.

BTW Lightning88, YOU WIN! The other picture wasn't as clear. Your hair is shorter and darker, but you do look much like you did.

I don't recall what part of texas you are from, but I have dealt with many dozens of texans over the past several years. My employer was originally 100% in texas. Few have had noticable accents.

I don't have the Neanderthal forehead, and I don't think I ever had a polo shirt. I usually just wear normal dress shirts. I HAVE referred to the blank stare, but that isn't a normal thing. I found a beautiful description of a similar type of meditation. I wish I could remember the name. I guess autistic people are more likely to do that automatically.

Yay! I knew I was right! lol And I’m actually from Houston! None of my family down there at all had the Texan accents so I don’t know what was up with us. With the exception of my dad, all the family on my mom’s side was originally from the midwest. Although I live here now, as one boy pointed out on the bus earlier, I speak way too quickly to be from around here!

BTW, did you get my last PM? It’s been a few days now.

I didn't have anything worthwhile to say until today. 8-(

I was actually SHOCKED one day when I met a person on the plane that had a domestic accent that sounded a bit texan. I asked him where he was from, and it WAS texas. I forget where, but I THINK it was amarillo.

But I spoke with LOTS of people from texas that didn't even have accents. In fact, now that I think of it, I DO remember being in texas for a while as a KID(Another thing to ask my mother about!), but don't remember hearing accents. One thing for sure though... Since I have been at my new job, I spent 4 weeks in Texas(Houston and Austin)! I went to several big areas, and don't remember hearing a texas accent outside of a coworker that I think had a BIT of an accent. He was from dallas.

If not for that, I might have thought that you would have had less external exposure because you're an aspie, and ended up with a midwestern accent. I could also see you adopting the faster speech, or possibly a hybrid. Then again, I was an only child and a bit isolated(although I DID go to preschool, kindergarten, etc...), and I even spent a stint in boston, and the accents were PRONOUNCED! My mother even had a strong accent. But I NEVER had one, and even my mothers is now like everyone else. You would hardly know she was from boston!

In my experience if you hear a Texas accent they're probably from west Texas, and probably not from one of the big cities. Although, some Texans like to turn on the twang whenever they hear someone with a really northeastern accent to mess with them. I've done it myself.

YEAH! One reason I never got married is because of my standards. WHO KNEW there was a sub culture that was almost REQUIRED to fit most of my criteria, and is less likely to play the games that are the other main reason I never got married. 8-( I wish I knew a long time ago. ALAS, that would have required being in Europe, and probably required being rich. 8-(

I hope you guys realize that I am PM'ing her only as a fellow ASpie, and friend. OK, I admit it. About half the people I PM are female, and about 3/4ths of the people I PM are pretty young compared to me.(HEY, most people on this site are under 29. 8-() BTW most are at least 1000 miles away(She is about 700 miles away from me now), and some are in other countries.

Also, that means I'm not competition for anyone that thinks she'd be interested.
