Without prefacing this post with some long explanatory/expositive discourse describing terms, acknowledging statistical models, explicating reasons, etc....I'm curious:

Name your five (or whatever number you care to give) top bands/music artists of all time, and give your general age range?

I'm particularly interested in my own demographic (white male, age 43, US citizen, college educated)...but...that doesn't mean that this question is closed to anyone else--in fact, it would surely be just as interesting to me (and others) to look for any trends/themes that might show up pertaining to AS/AD folks.

I'd like to see to what extent the "birds of a feather flock together" aphorism holds true in this particular respect.

Thanks...and for heaven's sake, please don't make this more complicated/contentious than is necessary!

In no specific order

Rush
Tool
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Morcheba
Crosby Stills Nash (Young)

I do like "trance" in general. But if this were that whole 'stuck on a desert island' scenario I think I'd get tired of the "the same" trance cd faster than selections from my favorites list. I bring this up because I'm thinking that trance music in general, probably appeals to AS/AD types moreso than general populations/NTs. I love the stuff.

Eh.

Female, 18 (soon to be 19), Caucasian, USA resident
Bands:
Evanescence
Korn
Lacuna Coil
Within Temptation
Linkin' Park

Those are my top 5, and I'm completely into them, for better or worst.
I also like a little of Disturbed, starting to get into Muse. Some Three Days Grace is all right.
Utada Hikaru.
General music types I like; rock, j-pop, nu-metal or whatever Korn is, metal, game soundtracks (mostly Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy[s]), all that good stuff.
I hate most rap and hip-hop; hate almost all country, and hate all Spanish music.

I find trance lacking in vocals and most other genre's lacking in the actual music part. I think that's why i like the postal service and bloc party so much, because they aren't lacking in either :)

I'm the outlier here. I'm in my 40s. My favorite music is classical. I also like jazz (especially Big Bands), some traditional foreign musics, Latin (non-rock) music, and a few others.

Imagine how this went over in high school. :(

You must be the first belgian I've ever met who don't like that kind of music. :P

I thought all belgians wore black dual chest pocket slim-fit shirts with little army things on the shoulders, white dress pants in shiny nylon, Dirk Bikkembergs sneakers and used half a bottle of hair gel and all danced together in big rave parties. No I'm kidding, but seriously there seems to be an overrepresentation in that taste of music at least.

Why, Zoonic, are you labeling me? :P

Yes, I'm aware a lot of Belgians are into that music, luckely I don't hang around them and have my trusty iPod and headphones. MY uncle, who's always been somewhat of a rolemodel to me, is a huge metalhead so I was exposed mostly to metallica, korn, sepultura, etc. instea dof the type of music people my age generally tended to listen to.
