I can't eat them, ever. When I eat them, I get the same feeling that I get when I touch velvet (which is the equivilent of an NT driving wooden splints under their fingernails). I was eating fried rice, and I tasted a tiny bit of onion and threw up  Onion is unbelievably disgusting, the rest are merely unpleasant to eat, like chewing gum of the sidewalk

As a child, I had problems eating mixed vegetables, but I've gotten over that. Didn't have much choice. Mom wasn't one to cater to children's nit-picky preferences. The only problems I have with vegetables now are if they're overcooked and mushy or if one of them is touching something else on the plate, like pea juice running into the mashed potatoes, or mashed potatoes or refried beans getting on something else. That's still a bit nauseating for me, but I'm working on it.

Regards,

Patricia

I'm fine with most vegetables, actually. It's very rare that I can't eat a vegetable, though I generally prefer it be with something else (such as peanut butter or ranch with celery, or cheese with broccoli) or prepared in a certain way (such as onions chopped really small).

One thing I have a problem with is eggs with vegetables. I don't remember the experiences I've had with it very well, but I know that I do not want to ever experience it again.

I am actually very allergic to carrots as well as to the entire cabbage family (cabbage, kale, brussels' sprouts, etc). Eating them makes me very bloated, gives me headaches and stomachaches, and makes me gain weight. I'm the only person I know who lost weight by eliminating cabbage from their diet. Several years ago, I had an IgG test (Immunoglobulin G antibody test) for food allergies, and indeed, I tested positive for allergies to carrots and cabbage.

If a food that you are eating makes you feel bad -- like gives you a stomachache, makes you feel dizzy or spacey, or gives you rashes -- try eliminating it from your diet for a while and see if you feel better. If you feel bad upon reintroducing it to your diet, you may be allergic to it, and it's probably best to avoid it.

Finally! Another velvet person, I thought I was the only one (touching velvet makes me shudder and feel nauseous like I'm going to throw up).

Is it a texture thing? I find that there are a lot of vegetables that I can't stand to eat because of their texture, but sauteing or roasting them in olive oil does wonders.

It might be how you are cooking them, I find boiled vegetables gross, it tastes like I'm eating starch and turns me off vegetables to the point I actually feel bloated

I like to steam my vegetables, or have a bowl of roast vegetables, and I don't mind a bit of cheese sauce on top of it
Sometimes I even like them raw, much healthier raw
If your vegetables aren't tasty, then they probably aren't fresh enough either, maybe your taste buds are trying to tell you to get fresher vegetables

There is no such thing as frozen-fresh

Caterina, I wish you good luck with your allergies

I'd much prefer veges to meat - least they dont remind me of something the cat dragged in or the dog should be gnawing on... corpses - yuk!!

Some veges are still yukky though - cant stand celery or capsicum - instant gag reaction....

I like almost every kind of vegetable, so no problems here.
Although when I was a young child I didn't like eating them, I would gag. My mum used to mash them into potato and then spread it all onto bread. It was the only way that I would eat them.

I was a meat eater, I went vegetarian when I realised how much better vegetables taste when you cook them the way you like them

I think we forget what the kitchen is for sometimes

I'm not a big veggie fan, I just dislike the texture of veggies when eating them. I'm a picky eater.

There are only a small few that I can think of. One is a spoonfull of loose peas: the taste is not great, and when combined with the mushy texture, my gag reflex takes over. I like loose peas in combination with other things though. Others that I have a problem with are canned greenbeans or any vegges that are overdone (here again, mushy = horror).
