I feel like I bother the crowd,

I avoid them at much as I can.

I am grateful 24 hour stores.

I am too, and for online stores. If I need something that I can buy online, I'll do that instead of having to face the crowds at the mall and/or supermarket.

If I am in a crowd of people I always end up walking into someone, usually more than 1 person, usually more than once. It seems that I can't tell which way people are going to walk, hence why I walk into them and why I avoid crowds so I have lots of room to get out of their way. Also crowds are usually noisy and when in them, I find it hard or impossible to hear myself think and I end up getting panicked.

Online shopping = a great invention.

They only do if I'm trying to listen to someone talking. Then I have to lean in really close and focus to hear it.

Nah, not really. If every one of them wanted to talk to me, that might bother me. But most people are just in their own little worlds in a crowd.

I think Chicago would drive me bonkers if crowds bothered me.

Yes, me too.

It's not that I usually get told to move out of the way it's more I shut down if I'm around crowds for too long.

I go one place that's unbelievably crowded and I used to hate going because of one specific reason but now I don't mind so much because I got a locker pass and have a place to put my stuff so I don't worry about all the chairs being taken. I was also vaguely worried about my stuff getting stolen but since I got the pass all my worries are gone and I don't mind going there.
It's not the crowd I mind. It's having to interact and since I mostly remain quiet with people I don't know, and am not outgoing, I don't worry about it.

Crowds can bother me at times. I think what happens to me is that the sensory overload of all the people gets too much for me. There have been times in shopping malls during busy times where I have to find a quiet area or leave. Restaurants can be like this for me too---especially when they have loud music playing. I have a lot of sensory issues (light/sound/touch) and it doesn't always take a lot to make me shutdown.

Something related to this that bothers me is when I am involved in something, and someone butts into my personal space. For example, I am a church organist. And it annoys me when I am getting the organ ready for Sunday morning service and people keep slapping me on the back and talking to me while I am focused on the settings of the instrument.

I don't like to be walking in a crowd but I love being off the path and near a crowd. Above them is best. Watching the people without being part of it; the different interactions, the occasional snatches of conversational pieces, the subsonic vibration of thousands of people talking and walking...

Like some people, it depends if I'm prepared for them. I can go to a bar a for a couple hours, provided it's not that college bars particular party night. But after a bit, it's too much and i need to get away for a while before I'm braced again. Never used to understand why that was, I haven't been to a real noisy place since I figured out the whole aspie thing. Might have to try it just to see how much of it I can out think now.

Unless there's something interesting to focus on crowds make me uncomfortable and agitated. Screaming children especially bug me. I don't understand why some people like being part of a large crowd. It seems pretty lame to me most of the time. I can enjoy being in a crowd at a rock concert because there's the music to drown out the sounds of the people.

I don't like being in crowds. It feels like everyone is in my way and I am in their way. Also, I don't know how they see me when it seems like everyone is looking at me. My voice control issues etc. sometimes disturb people, so I prefer to keep my level of interaction to one-on-one, far away from others, so I don't disturb them.

The last time I was in a crowd was going to museums in D.C. during a busy season. It was all I could do not to start pushing and screaming. The tension from suppressing that urge makes the urge worse and I have to find a bench to sit down. I'm not crazy about crowds but if I can move freely I can handle it much better.

I hate crowds. Crowds of people I'm familiar with are bad enough, but going shopping in places where where there are hundreds of strangers is even worse. I have to find something to focus on and try and ignore the noise of the people otherwise my mind starts to feel a bit like a scrambled egg after about 15 minutes. I can't stand being bumped into or brushed against either, it takes so much willpower to stop myself from screaming. If people are talking quite loudly, or there is loud music somewhere in the crowd, it goes beyond distressing and can actually be a little bit painful. If I have to go to somewhere where there is usually a crowd, I either go early in the morning so I can leave before lots of people start to arrive, or I go when it's raining or foggy because very few people go shopping during that sort of weather.
