Just wondered. I think I'm all alone out here.

Is Central Texas close enough?

Southern tip of Illinois. I'm actually not entirely sure where Arkansas is  I think it's close though sort of...

You mean the Cairo, IL area? South of Carbondale anyways? That's fairly close to here actually. Been through there once.

It's hard for me to imagine not knowing my states because I've been a map geek since I was in kindergarten. But Missouri borders you to your west, and Arkansas borders Missouri to the south. If you went down I-57 south across the river to Sikeston, Missouri, then followed I-55 south for about 75 miles, you'd come into northeast Arkansas.

I lived in Rogers Arkansas for 25 years, and I lived in Bentonville for a couple of short stints. I presently reside in the South Central part of Texas.

What part of South Central Texas?

I'm in San Marcos.

You're in San Marcos now? Are you not going to school in Wichita Falls anymore? I'm in Bryan/College Station.

College Station is near Houston isn't it?

I have relatives in the Houston area.

Yep we're about an hour and a half to two hours away from Houston, depending on where in Houston we go. Usually we just go there for the airports. IAH is closer to us than Houston Hobby.

Does out in the boonies in central Missouri count as nearby?

I'm in Shreveport, Louisiana. It's a city of similar size to Little Rock and only 3 hours to the southwest. I vacation to Hot Springs at least once each year and I fly out of Little Rock most of the time because it's cheaper than our airport.

I transferred to Texas State when I discovered that I was struggling with the geology program over at Midwestern. I changed my major to geography/urban planning, and retaining geology as a minor. Texas State was the only university in Texas offering my field of study at the undergraduate level (although Texas Southern, UT Austin, and UT Arlington offered it at the graduate level).
