This is an interesting thing I am starting. I actually have a Bachelor of Science degree, but the hyperness of my brain makes it so hard to focus. After years without formal education, I noticed my spelling and grammar beginning to lapse. I do not have the attention span to do regular crossword puzzles, suduku, or the like. I've lost interest in learning about playing music. But yet, this workbook designed for seven and eight year olds stimulates my brain just enough that it feels kind of good, but is not difficult so I do not give up. See, I was in special ed, and I guess I am just brushing up. Plus, it gives me back the sense of routine that I had in elementary school. Anyone else tried this to help their focus?

What a great idea! Sometimes I like to relax with those craft kits meant for kids. Craft kits meant for adults are fun and all that, but they are meant to be a major undertaking to keep the adult occupied for quite a while. The kid's craft kits occupy my hands and lightly occupy my brain and I'm done before it's time to start dinner, unlike an adult kit where I'm supposed to invest 2 weeks building the Notre Dame out of balsa wood.

For that very same reason, there are coloring books made for adults...

I HAVE studied a lot of things, and got a book on CLEP tests and was thinking about studying it. I just always get too distracted. Of course, the CLEP is basically college level. In fact the name stands for college level extrance placement. If I had known about it when it first came out, I would have already done it:

I think that I am not very good at doing simple tasks for long periods of time. I am better at doing hard tasks for small periods. I think it is an AS characteristic since we have an hard time to focus. Maybe it is good to train the aspects we are not so good at.

I remember I had one teacher that made me work a lot and didn't let me rest and that year I had very good grades probably because of the ritm I gained in solving exercises.

But then again I think I will never have the NT speed in solving simple exercises. But, if we have the same experience, they will not have my ability to solve complex problems.

I've forgotten a lot of math that I've learnt so I bought a year 7 maths book. It was great revision, but then I realized why I wasn't good at math: I found it boring. I don't think I have enough focus to relearn maths.

I got the habit of reading video game manuals just to pass time.

While I do use crossword puzzles above most things, I have found literature from my youth (Wrinkle in Time, et al) to help my mental acuity when working on larger tasks... I, too, wondered if it had something to do with resetting familiar patterns internally.
