We are researchers from Boston University who are conducting a study on ASD, religious beliefs, special interests, and other personality characteristics. We would love to have the involvement of the Wrongplanet community. Would anyone be interested in taking an online survey? If so, please reply to this message or email us at: BUautismstudy(at)gmail(dot)com.

Thank you. Please remove this posting if it is posted in an inappropriate forum section.

I will. What are you hoping to get out of the research btw?

Say, why is the email address not hosted at the Boston University website, but on a free email service, Gmail, where anyone can create an email account? Makes it just a tad suspicious.
I would have participated in this, but this little thing throws me off.

Good call on the sketchy email address, I didn't even notice that.

Although it's very possible that it is a small group doing an independent study that doesn't want to give their personal BU email, and is unable to just get new BU emails for the purposes of the study...

Hi everyone,
We do not have a BU account because we are a small group of researchers supervised by a Boston University professor and our study is new. We may look into setting up a BU email account, but this was just easier for now. Please feel free to visit Dr. Caldwell-Harris, Ph.D.'s website:

http://www.bu.edu/psych/faculty/charris/

Our research is more exploratory than question or hypothesis driven. We are testing a range of hypotheses, mainly to prevent bias, about the religious beliefs, personality traits, thinking styles, and special interests within the ASD population. You can read more about our study on our debriefing page at the end of our survey.

We appreciate your interest! If you have any other concerns, questions, or want to take part in our in laboratory study, please email us. Thank you.

Here is the link to our survey for anyone who would like to help us out:

I wouldnt worry about the unofficial email address. I did the same thing with my college senior project. It is easier just to set up a G-mail account for everybody in the group and keep things separate. It makes organizing things much better.

Did the survey.

The question about parent's marital status annoyed me quite a bit though: none of the answers fit. So I had to skip the question. My parents aren't married, and they never have been (to each other or to anyone else.).

Done! I enjoyed the questions at the end.

I took it. I hated the eyes part. And the other questions seemed to be just a repeat of the AQ test. But the end questions were cool 'cause I've never taken anything like that before.

Ditto hating the eyes part. I hate that. Gave me a headache, and ... I just flat out guess on those. I really have no clue what the stupid eyes are supposed to be conveying.
