Hey. I just wanted to take a poll. I have always had very childish interests. I really like Webkinz and LPS and collect them, I LOVE sesame street and other childrens shows (genuinely, not ironically) and kids toys. I have interest in "adult things" too (medical science, biology) but I wanted to know if anyone else feels this way.

It's good that you're well-rounded, actually.

In truth, I didn't like "kid" things even when I was a kid.

Except for cartoons.

I'm pretty much the same way. I love science and various areas of engineering. And I'm 62 but I still totally enjoy Legos, Pusheen cats, little fiber-optic christmas trees, etc. I never want to lose my enjoyment of childish things.

Before I found out I had ASD, I very much thought of myself as still having lots of child-like interests, like playing games, and much less interest in grown-up things, like making conversation.

Interestingly, NT children tend to dislike conversion, and so do people with ASD. Not liking to make conversion, it seems like playing games is a reasonable alternative of something that can be done with people that doesn't involve too much conversion.

So it seems to me that it's not that much of surprise that people with ASD often are thought of as having child-like traits.

I buy myself How Wheels and Matchbox cars and I play with them, too. I'm also waiting for the day that The Monkees are back on TV.

I'm sitting here in my onesie PJs with my stuffed dragon on my lap as I write this, if that gives you any indication. In all seriousness though, I've always been what others described as "emotionally immature". I still get excited at little kid things, will always choose bright and interesting colours over more muted and "mature" options, and my primary special interest right now is dinosaurs. Honestly, I've kind of always found most grown-ups to be pretty boring.

P.S, OP, I love Sesame Street too, especially Julia.

I too like childish things. I often will play with my kids toys, especially ones that spin or can be spun. I have been told by many people that I am a big kid.

I liked some childish things when I was a kid or teen & older than when my peers quit being into it. For example I watched some shows on Nick Jr until my mid teens. But I haven't really been into childish things as an adult. The things I like that kids tend to like are also things adults like for example, watching teen/adult cartoons, spending time on computer, playing video games.
