Raise your hand if you have it and tell us how you deal with it.

I have it. Both the sort where you can't fall asleep and the sort where you wake up too early.

Melatonin helps, but doesn't work every night.

**Raises hand**

Mine comes and goes, I will have it for a few weeks and then I won't, but when I do have it I don't really to do anything about it except get really anxious as I lie (lay?) in bed or try to do something while I'm awake but it never works out because I'm already sleep-deprived...

It's 05:02 AM and I've not been to sleep yet, that count?

There seems to be a cycle moving between daylight hours and "Vampire hours" every couple months.
Tried to fight it recently with meds but ended up miserable emotionally and zoned out physically.

Much happier just letting it happen :D I'm not working so it is easier to let it just happen.

Got some productive things done, (quietly - apartment downstairs) and will likely be heading to bed about sunup.
Although, weather shows rain and thunderstorms arriving about then, so we'll see !

I have it, and I deal with it by taking sleeping pills. Nothing else works for me.

I get it episodically, ie. some weeks I get really bad insomnia for a while, then I sleep better, etc. It is usually linked to stress. I haven't yet found a way to deal with it, although it is a lot better than in high school. Then I had insomnia pretty much all the time.

When things go bad I won't sleep before 5am and this can continue for 9 or so months. Closest solution I came to was reading to try and switch your mind off, but do it lying in bed with very low light so you are more likely to fall asleep. If you find yourself falling in and out of sleep, upon just getting out of sleep turn the light off and immediately try to sleep. Don't do anything in between like go to the bathroom and ideally don't get up to turn off the light, doing this might wake you up more, hence bedside light best.

I have it in its many varied forms, that can change from night to night. I take clonazepam to treat this and other symptoms of my ADHD. Still, I have to go off it on weekends to prevent dependence and end up spending a lot of time trying to catch up on my sleep during the day and feel generally wasted. This effect has varied over time.

I've suffered from insomnia for as long as I remember. Some nights I can fall asleep in less than an hour, but other nights I can lie awake until 3 or 4 in the morning (there doesn't seem to be a pattern) In hotel beds, I'm lucky if I even sleep at all. In moving vehicles (cars, planes, etc.), I can't fall asleep unless I'm really tired.

Waking up in the morning can be just as hard. I'm a light sleeper, and anything can wake me, but not usually enough to keep me awake.

Now for boring lectures, they will knock me out, no matter how hard I try to stay awake.

Turns out I'm basically a "night owl"; I even do the closing shift at my job.

I'll get up at 2:15 PM, and go to bed at like 7:30 AM.

On days I sleep in, I get up around 5-6:30 PM.

I have it. Alcohol sometimes helps.

I have insomnia. I have a hard time going to sleep and a hard time staying asleep. If I get more than 2-3 hours of sleep at a time I consider myself lucky. It's like I can't turn off my brain; it keeps firing off thoughts even if they're too quick for me to comprehend. I've tried different things, but none of them have worked. Warm milk. A piece of fruit before bed (I had read that eating a small serving of carbs before bedtime helped sleeping...not for me). Chamomile tea (including one brand with Valerian...no help, either). I quit drinking caffeinated beverages for 2 months and that did nothing. Alcohol sometimes helps, but it's too inconsistent for me to rely on. NyQuil works, but only the first time I take; if I take it on consecutive days it does nothing for me (note: I only take NyQuil when sick). I was prescribed cough syrup with codeine when I was younger and that worked, but recent prescriptions have done nothing. I've also been prescribed Vicodin for pain and that helped me sleep. I've thought about trying melatonin, but I've heard mixed results. I'm not comfortable with the idea of taking sleeping pills. Sometimes I sleep better during the day so I'll take naps on weekends if I'm not too busy. Otherwise, I don't really do anything anymore; I've just kind of adapted to it, I guess.
