Seeing a 20ish WP member's comment about how " he liked an 80s song , he had it on his Ipod before wnyone else " , makes me feel again just how TOTALLY behind the times  & in a time warp I am :( !
I won't strceh my time any longer since it's pay , I'll assume that some people who've followed me may know my background/circumstances :( :( ...........
It's NOT just the LITERAL " I don't have an Ipod " ( or a Zuem , isn't that the Microsoft version :P  ? )

...This REALLY is NOT just " I don't have the latest Ipod " or , even , " I don't have an Ipod at all " - It's how my poorness and removed-ness has led me to feel , when I see a "modern " statement --- Well........... :( :(

You're taking it way too seriously =.= I don't have a Ipod and i never made a fuss over it. <.< But then again, i am half deaf, so music's not as important to me as it would be to anyone else i suppose.

Interesting, because I do have an iPod and I wouldn't be without it. Apart from the convenience of having all your CDs in one tiny place it also helps isolate you from the NT world. Nobody stops you in the street for a survey or to ask directions if they see those white earbuds.

Ipods are totally over-rated. As a person with an ASD you're not supposed to be so influenced by society.

I'm not saying that Ipods aren't any good, or that it isn't cool to have music with you when you want it.. But.. There are cheaper alternatives. People, even ASPIES are SO spoiled. I bought my mp3 player, and RCA mp3 player for 30 dollars. It has 512 megabytes, but there are probably bigger storage models out now, I got mine nearly a year ago. I could still fit dozens of songs on it though. That varies with the size of each song, of course. I could easily listen to it for 2 hours straight without looping through all of my songs, and I never filled it up either.

I can take this mp3 player and plug it into any computer that has a USB port. Most computers do. I can put any song on it without any special software, without it asking any questions about the song. I once bought an album from one of my favorite artists, ripped the entire CD onto my computer and then moved it all over to my mp3 player. The next morning I was walking to my college listening to music I love.

I am getting sick of people being obsessed with Ipod. I do just fine with my 30 dollar mp3 player. I feel so sorry for people who buy into these expensive things without any knowledge of what the hell they're doing.

iPod and Zune are expensive as crack.

You can afford a good MP3 music collection (downloaded free from file sharing) with a $20 MP3 e250 2GB Sansa player on eBay.

I done it before and I have no regret or urge to buy a $100 2GB MP3 player.

Avoid the chinese brand MP3 players if you will because those sux.

Throw an extra $5 for earbud, you spent $25 on total compared to buying a iPod.

ASS-P, don't feel bad. I only got cable TV and a cell phone not too long ago. :D

I do love my pod, though. If you consider that you can buy individual songs, and are no longer subjected to buying entire albums that you may or may not like, I think the cost of it well evens out.

AND, I'm addicted to podcasts. I'm in school, and through iTunes I can get tons of free information - lectures from colleges, language lessons, information about areas of interest.

It does have it's good points.

I sort of feel the way you do. My iPod had to be sent in for a few days to get repaired and I'm so sad about it. I can't live without it.

IPod-un you topic

My son has both an IPod music devices and an IPod cell phone. I have no interest in these.

My two daughters have the IPod music devices. I worry about my youngest walking out alone. She cannot hear danger (cars, people) and I always warn her. :o

Yeaaahh I'm such a pathetic sheep NT wannabe cuz I don't feel like looking up a million unknown brands on google and judging whether they're a bargain or whether they rightfully have a low price

Get real, I'd only go through that much trouble if I wanted to buy a car. I embrace individualism, but this is just straight up corny.

Don't worry, ASS-P. Really. I don't have an iPod. Wouldn't know how to use one if I did. I also haven't the foggiest clue how to send text messages (or read ones that I get, ha ha!)

I don't know what a Hannah Montana is, or who the Jonas Brothers are, and beyond that, I can't even think of other names of celebrities to list.

I've never watched "American Idol" or any reality TV show. Ever.

I could go on and on. Heck, at least you were able to quote some lyrics from a song written after 1990. I don't think I could do that.

:)

Don't feel bad about it. I don't own a IPOD or MP3 player either. Then again, I don't own a TV either.

Don't worry ASS-P. I have an mp3 instead of an ipod. So much cheaper to buy, plus you don't have to buy software or change the mp3 to an itunes or whatever the format for ipods. Besides, all I need is to listen to music (anime music actually (animeeee!).

Hey, that was me! If you're not going to want to listen to music a lot, just find an online radio station or two. Sky.fm is a good one for 80's music.

And to whoever said "you're not supposed to be so influenced by society," (can't read it now since I'm on my Blackberry, I guess that makes me doubly spoiled?) an Aspie isn't "supposed" to do anything; if we were, it would be to do whatever makes us the most at ease in uncomfortable situations. Simply the fact that I own an iPod gives me common ground on which to start a conversation. I'm glad you are satisfied with your two hours of music, but just because some might not be doesn't mean they're an unthinking "sheep."

Back to the original post with one more helpful tidbit; if not owning an iPod makes you feel over the hill, don't read any articles about pro football athletes. Apparently for them, "ancient" is 30.

If you want to have an iPod or other MP3 player to keep people from bothering you, just get the earbud headphones and put them in, then put the cord into your pocket. It won't occur to most people that the headphones aren't attached to anything. Or you can just ignore people regardless of what you have in your ears.

I don't have an iPod and I'm a teenager. I hear "you don't have an iPod?!?!?!" on a regular basis. I can put music on my cell phone, though, so I use that like an mp3 player (more than I use it for calls, actually). Why spend money on a iPod when I have my phone?

Aoi - I do that all the time! People leave me alone when I have headphones in, but not when I'm reading. I find that amusing.
