I'd like to take a test of social intelligence, and perhaps research books on the subject. It's also called "relationship intelligence", I think, or something like that... Have you had any dealings with the topic of social intelligence? Do you happen to have some good links or recommendations?

Look up Mw99's post 1st about social intelligence tests ("What's your social intelligence? (link to quiz included...") & google it. Mw99's test comes up if you google it sometimes (its listed here on WP).

Thanks Peko, I did get into that thread when I did a search on the topic, and I took the test, but I'm trying to see if there are better ones...

Don't bother with that link. It's a test of Emotional Intelligence (a different concept) that was not developed by an expert, so it is not valid.

Daniel Goleman is one of the originators of the idea of social intelligence, as an outgrowth of his work on emotional intelligence. I read his article, Daniel Goleman and Richard Boyatzis, "Social Intelligence and the Biology of Leadership", Harvard Business Review, September 2008, 74-81, and determined that my social intelligence was low, which was why I was not progressing in my career. Of course, low social intelligence is a characteristic of autism, which I discovered I had later. The article I mentioned was aimed, naturally, at a business audience. They have more extensive writings. I believe wikipedia has references in its article on social intelligence.

Now, I'm reading Melvin Silberman, PeopleSMART, which is about boosting one's social intelligence. The problem is that the very first item involves boosting one's empathy. I don't have any, so that's a nonstarter. I have glanced at it and found why I do badly in job interviews: the 7% verbal can go great, but the 93% nonverbal indicates incorrectly that I'm not interested. This is probably in addition to small things that deter NTs, such as finding that I'm not a person they want to socialize with.
