Found this tool for measuring GAF:
http://www.ct.gov/dmhas/LIB/dmhas/MRO/Kaxis.pdf

Basically, to get your GAF, you take the scores on the first four scales, average them, and come up with the number.

Example:
Scale 1, Psychological impairment: 60, Moderate symptoms
Scale 2, Social skills: 40, Major impairment (no friends)
Scale 3, Violence: 50, self-injury
Scale 4, ADL/Occupational: 60, able to keep job with intensive support but has difficulty with ADLs

Average: 52.5, which is very close to the 55 I was given at last assessment.

Is it as accurate for you?

I have never had my functioning level tested by a professional before so I guessed what my score for each section might be and worked out the mean using a calculator. And I got 71.8 and I would class myself as being around 67-76 depending on my current mood or mindset.
Here are the scores I gave myself:
Psychological impairment: 69
Social skills: 67
Violence: 70, I'm not exactly violent but I do have issues with anger
ADL-occupational skills: 63, I have problems with executive functioning so things mentioned here will be a problem for me for quite a while, I take a long time to catch up with with others but my functioning level in this area should improve with time
Substance abuse: didn't rate because that was 100 anyway and it doesn't apply to my life
Medical impairment: 90, I'm normal here infact my immune system is pretty strong.
Ancillary impairment: didn't rate for similar reasons to the substance abuse one.

"murdered someone over 10 years ago"?
This scale is just bizarre.. many of the assessments seem unrelated, or are partially based on history and partially based on current problems. Averaging them together just doesn't make sense. It's like trying to average an apple blossom, a nice ripe Florida orange, and a 12-year-old Chiquita banana.

PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPAIRMENT: 65
SOCIAL SKILLS: 60
VIOLENCE: 75
ADL-OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS: 100
SUBSTANCE ABUSE: 75
MEDICAL IMPAIRMENT: 80
ANCILLARY IMPAIRMENT: 100

GAF: 75

Really shows how the job skills save me.

PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPAIRMENT: 60
SOCIAL SKILLS: 60
VIOLENCE: 50 (this one mainly because of the self harming, cutting, etc.)
ADL-OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS: 50
SUBSTANCE ABUSE: 100 (I couldn't find where I fit in here totally, so this is the closest one I guess.)
MEDICAL IMPAIRMENT: 70
ANCILLARY IMPAIRMENT: 90

GAF: 68.5

My last GAF was 65

I believe my last GAF to be higher than what I am functioning at, but if I took out the substance abuse 100 from the average its closer to where I think I should be at 63.3

I doubt I'm qualified enough to score such, really.

But anyway,

40
40
50
40

= 40

O, and to add, I've never had a GAF done before (that I know of).

concur, it is complete pseudo science

12 year old Chiquita lol

"Chiquita" bananas are an unspecific mass brand. They are an American company that have tried to take over most of the south and central American, and Caribbean plantations, paying very low wages.

The problem with this is that it's not really specific to a certain mental disorder. Stuff like schizophrenia, mental retardation, mood disorders, antisocial PD, and malignant OCD are what's represented the most in each numerical range, compared to ASDs.

That's why you have so many different "symptoms" in each range.

I got a relatively low score so I suppose I did this wrong somehow. From what I do every day and what professionals say I imagined getting at the very least a 80-something score on such a test.
