Hey, guys. I am having a little bit of trouble with my stereo. No matter what kind of antenna I use, I just cannot seem to get good enough reception! Sure, I can pick up the local stations nice and clear, but some of the weaker ones seem to come in a bit staticy. Just incase you guys were wondering, I have two stereo systems in my room. The one I'm talking about right now consists of a KLH stereo receiver, a pair of KLH bookshelf speakers, an old Sony cassette deck, and a Sony CD recorder. I also have a JVC shelf stereo, which also gets poor reception.

I am planning on replacing my crappy KLH receiver and speakers with something a whole lot nicer, but I do need some recommendations. I know some of you may be electronics illiterate, but for those of you who know a bit about electronics, do you know which brand of receivers has the best FM radio reception? I want to be able to pick up distant stations with ease and minimal interference.

pick up a copy of the "apssport to world band radio" or check out eham.net. both critique radios. Though the focus is shortwave, most also have FM stations too. Might be worth a look

I voted for sony, as the TV I have by them is high quality, and I may be getting a radio by them soon as my store brand is about to perish....

Grundig is a fantistic radio (I have one the FR-200 from LL BEAN). But it doesnt have a CD player and I MUST have that to function....

Bose is way expensive, but the sound quality is fantastic. My aunt and uncle have one, and the reception is good too.

Generally speaking, the order from best to worst would be Marantz, Onkyo, Harman Kardon, Sony, and Sherwood.

I think that any modern, decent receivers are going to have similar FM tuning abilities. Your choice of antenna would likely make a far greater impact on your reception. What kind are you currently using?

I'll tell you this. There is one radio station in our area that plays everything, and another station that plays country music.

Because the country station is closer to our area than the nostalgia station, we don't get it. Isn't that strange?
