I'm not trying to degrade this site or anything, but even here I still feel very much like the odd duck out. I can hardly relate to anyone as far as interests go and I sometimes have a hard time understanding and following the topics posted here. Maybe I just think too abstractly? :(
And to be honest, I find most of the topics here completly uninteresting. I thought I could finally find a lot of people I could relate to but...oh well.

Well... Then you could try starting some new topics you like.

Question, what do you like?

There is many forums throughout the multi-verse that is the internet... you could try your luck somewhere else. I went through two sites before settling on this one longer than a month. I've been here a while actually...

I sometimes feel this way.

I have been on here over 5 years, and I think everything changed when some of the established members left or became less active, and a bunch of new members came in, and there was suddenly a lot of favoritism on here.

NOT being able to "relate to anyone as far as interests go and I sometimes have a hard time understanding and following the topics posted here" is a primary trait of AS. My problem here is that there are too many topics going on at once and I can't follow what I had already posted on; unless it stays close to the top, then I don't read any with more than 2 pages.

I think I personally will always feel like the odd one out, even on here. I find other posts here to be very interesting in that there are quite a few people who embrace their aspie-ness and I wish I could do this as well. But even visiting wrongplanet sometimes makes me feel depressed because I can't ever seem to get over the feeling like I will always be "weird" or "strange" and people will never really look at me like I'm their equal no matter what I do. I feel like my diagnosis of aspergers just permanently labeled me as having a mental disorder which obviously means I'm not neuro-typical and therefore not worthy of anyones time or attention... I'm sorry if I'm a total downer, it's a slump I've been in. I guess I was just trying to say you are not alone. I wish I could say something positive, maybe I'll go read some other posts and feel more inspired.

There is other aspies forum like aspies for freedom or the one on psychforum. But I don't think you will found much discusions on your interests on them...

There is gifted haven http://www.giftedhaven.net/forum/index.php where there is intellectuals discussions and where everyone is smart and crazy. Maybe you will found some discussions abstract enough. It's certainly worth a peek.

There certainly is some forum on Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings and where everyones share one of your main interests.

Other than that I don't see, but it's up to you to found after all.

(BTW, on WP there is this discussion right now who need to think quite abstractly.http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt107470.html)
