ME! I HATE the smell of cleaner for when my mom mops ICK! Also going down the candle or cleaner aisle/store ICK! The same goes for perfume/those fancy smelling stores. Sure I like some smells (Dancing Waters from Bath and Body Works) and Cinnamon etc. but most ICK!

I’m sensitive to smells as well. I refuse to go into shoe stores or new automobiles because I dislike either of those smells. Newly paved roads are also terrible smelling, and mulch, and perfume aisles like you said. I won’t go near a dishwasher that’s running because they have that certain smell that is just…yuck. Cleaning solutions have to be the worst though. The smell of bleach makes me ill.

I also don’t really like it when people who put on too much perfume. My roommate is one of those people who douses herself from head to foot in too much perfume before she goes out, and she does it frequently. But at least she sprays it on in the hall because I’ve mentioned to her how I don’t like strong smells.

The smell of bleach used to give me a headache, but not anymore. The one smell I have always been sensitive to and hated was the smell of people's breath. I remember being a kid and squirming away from people who wanted to give me a hug just because I could smell their breath and it was strong and for some reason, I couldn't stand the way it smelled. Maybe I was really sensitive to that particular odor? I still have the same problem. If I can smell breath it turns my stomach.

Me too. I hate the smell of most cleaning products, and in fact, most of them make me feel like being sick.

Those deoderising pine trees they hang in cars too... urgh.

I hate the smell of cleaning liquids too. I almost never use them when cleaning my house. I don't do much housecleaning anyway. Some fabric conditioners smell bad to me too. All these artificial smells make me feel ill.

In my entire life I've only known two people who managed to fit a perfume to their body chemistry in a way that actually worked for them. The rest all reek as though they'd bathed in some rancid ammonia formula.

On the other hand, the scents of Sandalwood and of Surgical Green Soap (used in tattooing), I find extremely soothing and relaxing.

But then, I also find the sound of a tattoo machine soothing and relaxing, so that may just be me.

perfumes make me nauseous and give me a headache. worst fragrances are men's... I think they make them to smell good to men. Axe is revolting, as are most men's deoderants.

I do like sandalwood, though, and lavender. I have to buy hair products with very little, and natural, fragrance and unscented laundry soap, otherwise I'll throw up.

It's gotten a lot better, but perfumes make me itch, especially around my nose and face, but also on my forearms. It was definitely from smelling them, not an allergic reaction. Walking through the stench department in a store was hell, and perfume cards in newspapers and magazines would make them unreadable.

Cleaning products and other chemicals never bothered me, and lower concentrations of fragrance didn't cause the reaction (though I'm still not fond of them).

One time my partner got some dish soap that I thought smelled like vomit, so apparently I don't match their product testing population <grin>.

I mostly have this with perfumes (i kinda like the smell of cleaning detergent:P).
I really WISH I could like perfume, but I don't:\ I could never wear any 'cause the smell really starts to bother me fairly quickly.

I especially hate walking behind someone who reeks of perfume, or when someone walks by and you get this waft of sickening perfume. *shudders*

YES! I can't breather if I smell most perfumes, I avoid cleaners & smoke. I have a problem where I hold my breathe/feel like my lungs are closing depending on what it is & how much.

Yes! Perfume is chemical warfare to me ;)

And ugh... A school lab where everyone had open bottles of vinegar... I like the smell in small amounts, but that much had me way overstimulated and overwhelmed.

Perfumes and other artificial scents are killers! I once was in a supermarket in the U.K. and the laundry section reeked! Ladies, if you want to scent yourselves, please use natural extracts.

I think the problem may be overkill. I've recognized one perfume scent as a lily odor. The problem with the perfume is that it takes this one scent which occurs naturally in a small amount and amplifies it. This causes sensory overload and even headaches.

Most scents bother me, but not all.

I don't know how people like all this scented stuff. From deodorant, soaps, detergents, etc. most of it is so overpowering.

I can't stand perfume or anything with an odor that strong (like some shampoos). I wonder how people can stand being in cars with the type of people that you can smell a mile away.
