I was about eight when I could remember the difference between left and right. I finally got it because if you make both your hands into an L shape, only the left one will have a correct L for "left". Still do that sometimes if I forget in a moment of absent-mindedness.

I still forget which is left and right, I think it's very common to get mixed up with them

Noa x

That would probably indicate either low or delayed visual-spatial skills--the sort of skills that make you good at things like drawing/painting/sculpture, reading maps, picturing things in your head, mentally rotating or reversing an object, using charts and graphs, doing some kinds of geometry, and having good handwriting.

It wouldn't have to be very low or very delayed, though, because problems with left/right are not an uncommon weakness to have, especially among kids. If you're ambidextrous, it's even worse, because strongly left or right handed people can just imagine reaching for something and conclude that the hand they're using is their dominant hand and therefore that side is left or right. That's how I figured it out.

If it makes you feel any better, I still can't get the hang of "next week", "this week", "this Sunday," "next Sunday," "Sunday after next," etc. I have to ask for the date.

No. That does not indicate mental retardation. I sometimes confuse my left with my right and also forget which day of the week it is. I think you should try to stop worrying about being mentally ret*d, you seem bright enough to me. Stress can cause all kinds of mental confusion. Try to forget that stupid test. People score low on tests for all sorts of reason which have nothing to do with intelligence. I'm only using the term "mental retardation" here so I can respond to your post effectively. I personally think that term should not be used at all. Everyone processes information differently. Some do it quickly and some do not. As long as it gets processed who cares.

It indicates neither MR or AS. Many people NT have the same issue.

I work at a large store in Red Deer.I basically memorized everything and can verbally tell a customer where an item is without even going there.I could also probably draw out a map on where almost everything is in the store.I am also good at memorizing numbers, soaking up information during lectures at school, etc.

People mix up right and left and other simple concepts all the time (I know I do). It's not MR.
