I find I can be very articulate and funny when I am comfortable with someone and in a quiet alone situation. Or especially when writing. Because these give me time to think undistracted. But in public places I tend to become a wallflower, rather observant. Or sometimes I just get into a silent mood. I hate it when people ask me what's wrong, and there isn't anything wrong. XD
Anyways, how verbal are you?
If it is a new place, or people I don't know very well, I tend to be quiet at first, until I get it all figured out.

Oh and also do you ever use simple noises or expressions instead of speaking? I often tend to just point or even use just my eyes, or nod/shake my head silently.
When around family members, I am quite vocal, but when we were kids, we had to use this primitive sort of lingo with my severely autistic sister. She understood words, but sometimes we used odd sounds that only had meaning to her.

Oh and one last question. How often do you mimic things? Sometimes I find I will just quietly mimic something said, or repeat it in my head. I also tend to adopt peer's mannerisms and facial expressions without realizing it. I even mimic animal gestures, if I particularly like that sort of animal (yes I do growl if someone is an a**hole, but low enough not to be heard. And did you know crows dance when happy? I had a pet crow for a while, guess where my happy dance came from XD)
Yes, all the time. If safely alone, I mimic the air conditioner, the refrigerator, blinking lights, my cat (as a result, she is
very vocal) and noises that I hear outside. Sometimes I find myself imitating my cat when I get nervous; licking my lips twice, very quickly, then swallowing, sitting very still and listening intently to sounds. Weird, huh?
