I think we have to want to be, or at least try to be INCLUDED.

The only meaning I can think of here is that you are referring to wanting or trying to be included in a circle of friends or group?

I think that there is an innate feeling in most of us that we want to be liked and accepted, and part of being accepted is to be included in things, whether it be a group of friends or joining a club or society. I think that some people will try and become included in things or with people to merely gain acceptance and/or because there is a purpose to it. This is purely based on behaviours I have observed in many people I know.

As for myself, I like to make friends or join groups based on how much I think these people are going to mean to me or, with regards to joining a group, what value it is going to be in my life. I couldn't imagine trying to be included in something or with other people just for the sake of it now. It is something I used to do but then I learnt that the more people you let into your life, the greater the potential there is for emotional pain. I am a great believer that it is not the quantity but the quality of your friendships/group memberships that count. A lot of people I speak to believe that you have to have lots and lots of friends and be popular to be someone. I do not think this way. I have only about 5 or so people in my life that I see on a regular basis and the reason for that is because I regard them highly. Otherwise I see other people but rarely because I value them less for whatever reason or because I think they are likely to hurt me or because they already have hurt me in some way. But you have to learn from the pain and value those closest to you who won't hurt you.

Included in what? I like what Fiz said, but I want to know specifically what you, Roman, are referring to?
