How long does it take you to get ready for work in the morning (not including travel time)?

For me, I get up at 6:30am just so I can get to work between 10 - 10:30am (which includes the 50-60 mins travel time).

It seems unbelievable even to me, but one week I wrote down the time it took to do each individual task in the morning (5 mins here, 10 mins there...) and when I add it all up, it actually does make sense, but I just can't figure out how so called "normal" people can get up and be out the door in 10 mins? It seems as unbelievable as the laughable "5 minute shower".

It takes me about 15 minutes.

Without the sitting there numbly, perhaps browsing the internet, just feeling general desolation, about an hour plus half an hour walking. With, about two hours plus half an hour walking.

About 50 minutes from waking up just before the alarm (6.55) to leaving the house (7.45). Most of the time spent eating two bowls of cereal for breakfast (I don't usually eat lunch, so I have a lot  ) while watching the news on't BBC. I have a fairly rigid morning routine.

It takes me less than a half hour. I got up at 6:30 yesterday because I had slept in. All I had to do was put on a shorts and a shirt, eat, brush my teeth and I only had a few minutes with computer and then I was out the door. I grabbed my purse.

I usually get up at six and I rest for a few minutes, get up, bathroom, dress, eat, watch Benny & Joon, brush my teeth at 6:45, and then call Trimet at 6:50 to see what time the bus comes, keep watching Benny & Joon, when the bus is going to come in the next ten minutes, I put on my shoes and grab my purse and coat, turn the movie and the TV off and the lights and I am out the door. I make sure I have my house keys with. But I couldn't do that routine yesterday. It had to be short and no Benny and Joon.

Depends on the shift, if it's early in the morning I need to give myself at least an hour to prepare myself.

If I am only responsible for myself in the morning I can be out of bed and out of the house in less than 10 minutes. I don't eat breakfast and beyond brushing my teeth and hair (I shower at night to allow my hair to dry, I hate using a dryer) I don't do a lot of grooming (can't stand wearing makeup).

It takes me approximately 40 minutes from waking up to leaving my house. This includes finding clothes to wear, showering, getting dressed, brushing my hair while listening to music, brushing my teeth then heading out the door. I'm barely punctual.

It takes me two hours from waking up to leaving the house. This includes going to the toilet, giving my cat and rats fresh food and water, taking a shower and getting dressed. I usually find which clothes I am going to wear before I go to bed so don't have to worry about this in the morning.

Then I make breakfast and eat breakfast while surfing the internet. After breakfast I brush my teeth. The rest of the time is used to make sure that I've got everything that I need. That my wallet and keys are where they should be, that I have remembered to pack a book and my ipod etc.

Can not handle stressful mornings. It ruins my entire day.

Not long. Put on trousers, boots, and then grab tools/gear. All of it is where I left it the day before.

It depends on many factors. When I worked at a neighbor's, I didn't even get ready, just made sure I had appropriate clothes, brushed hair before I walked over there. I guess making sure I was dressed with brushed hair constitutes getting ready, but, since it was a neighbor's house, it didn't feel like actual "getting ready".
When I've worked at various "yuck" jobs, I was addicted to makeup and had to wear it because I thought it made my flaws less obvious. Sometimes, my eyes had issues with eyeliner and mascara, other times the eyeshadow was irritating. Besides that, everything was fine. Sometimes it took longer because of eye makeup issues.
One thing I never do: take a shower before going to work. I just couldn't bring myself to jump in the shower right after waking up and I never woke up early enough to be gradual about everything. It's the same when I go swimming. Rarely, do I ever just jump into the water. Every once in a while I'll get on a slide first thing, but not that often. I need to approach things gradually, nothing sudden. When I first wake up I want to zone out for a while. When I completely snap out of sleep to full alertness, it takes a while, rarely is it spontaneous.
In general, I dread getting ready for anything. Whenever I have to get ready quickly and figure out what to wear, my mind blanks. I wouldn't mind if I had someone decide all that stuff for me: This is what you will wear today and I have it all set out ahead of time for you.
Another thing, is, so many things make me itch, so if I put on a formal gown or something for a wedding party, did up my hair and makeup with a professional, as soon as everything was done and perfect, I would start itching like mad and would have to smudge everything up :(
My fave type of attire is very casual and comfortable with nothing that itches, including makeup.
So, to answer the question, it takes me varying amounts of time to get ready, depending on what must be done.

I totally agree with you MrVulcan. I don't understand how it takes me so long, really, but it is truly impossible to do it any faster and I can't comprehend how people can do it.

This one really hits home with me because, living in a drought-ridden area, I hear the comercials on the radio all the time about taking a 5 minute shower to save water. Everytime I hear this I am always like WTF??? Are people actually capable of doing that??? My mom used to take a quick "wash up" shower sometimes that was only a few minutes. I can't fathom it. It takes me longer than that to even half-heartedly wash myself lol much less do a good job. I just don't understand how people can possibly do this without rushing like a maniac and who wants that???

Half an hour. Just get up, shower, dress, put my hair in its ponytail, make my bed, drink a glass of milk, and...I'm ready. I don't know why it takes some people two hours. There's nothing complicated about it. As long as your clothes are clean and comfortable, your hair is out of your face, and you're wearing your watch, badge and eyeglasses(or contacts), you're basically good to go. And of course, your bed made.

It's about an hour for me, as I always take a shower first. My work uniform shirt is always washed the day before so it's clean and pressed, and I have several pairs of black pants to chose from, so there's always something clean, which saves me even more time. That hour includes a brief time on the internet to check and send any e-mails that are necessary as I do that while drinking my morning coffee.

Well, I don't go to work, but it can take a while for me to go to places like school. I sometimes get rushed which kinda stresses me, but usually it takes around 15-30 minutes.
