Its "extrodinary usefulness and equally extraordinary dangers impress practically every human being from infancy onward." Fire was something I've always been admired to since I was a kid, it's not only about the chemical combination of oxygen with the carbon and other elements of organic substances that form heat. It's something that is "alive", but has no "life", it's magic. I like watching fire and my father questions me if this behaviour is related to any religious rite. I am not a paleolithic person, so, "no".

Being a PDD, means that I love repeating and watching things that make no sense to anyone else. :roll: There's no "anger" or deep feeling about fire. It's all about fire. I've learned that under moments of anxiety and obsession, watching patterns can make me relax.

I love fire too. I enjoy even the littlest flame and can spend hours staring at candles, a lighter, a fire in the fireplace or a bonfire! My only problem is I have OCD issues with it (I have the constant checking version of OCD) and can spend just as long ensuring the fire has gone out and so to avoid the associated anxiety, I rarely light one. :cry:

Both of you might like the video I heard about that is only an hour or so of a fire burning in a fireplace.

My cousin came up with his own version of "Deck the Halls":

Deck the halls with gasoline,
Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la,
Light a match and watch it gleam,
Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la,
Watch the schoolyard burn to ashes;
Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la,
Aren't you glad you played with matches,
Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.

But you must watch the fire video while listening to Def Leppard.

Pref. something from the Pyromania album...

I'm so obsessed with fire and burnt out buildings that they've actually put it as high risk on my risk assessment that I might set stuff on fire! :lol: I only like watching them though, not setting them...

I love Bon Fires. Years ago, we used to look forward to Autumn, raking all the leaves up into a big pile and lighting it on fire. Everyone in our neighborhood did this. It was wonderful to smell the leaves burning. Now, it's against the law to have fires in your back yard. I also love a nice camp fire. When we go camping we always have the biggest fire in the camp ground. Sitting around a fire is a really wonderful experience. There is something so instinctive and natural about it, it makes you feel so tribal and clannish.

I love fire as well. I used to set fires in ashtrays. I never wanted to use fire to destroy property, I just like watching the flames consume whatever I can appropriately burn, even marshmallows on a stick. love of fire also got me into metalsmithing, ceramics (especially raku) and lampworking.

I love fires although I'm afraid of heat.
