My main interest is forensics, with a recent side trip into research on neurological differences.
Past research trips include cryptography, medieval history, engineering, programming, languages, robotics, theoretical physics and applied chemistry.
Guess I'm just a geek!

Books!

I do have other special interests from time to time and can have more than one going at the same time but I think books are some of my first memories.

I have always been surrounded by books and .............I tend to buy books about my current special interests.

Diet and mental health, the connection between chemical state and our mood and cognitive function, which started at age 14, subsided during my alcohol-fuelled social years at college and uni, ( I did a degree in psych and bio but barely studied for it ), and resurfaced, a hundred times more intense, in my late twenties, 18 and a half years ago now, so it's definitely my main interest.

Other interests, which tend to return in cycles, as Dossa described, are: drawing/painting, religion/spirituality, history/development of civilisation, tarot, astrology, psychology of gender and sexuality, cognitive psychology, science fiction, and a fairly new one which is connected to everything else a bit: story structure. And collecting pictures of house interiors from magazines; I love the fly's eye view into other people's lives! :lol

All things Alice in Wonderland, whether it's the original story or various adaptations. My top favorite adaptations are Tim Burton's (which is what got me interested in AiW stuff in general) and the 90s children's show called Adventures in Wonderland. I'm planning on starting a collection of Alice in Wonderland paraphernalia in the near future, and decorating my room accordingly.

Psychiatry, Learning "disabilities", and the autistic spectrum, combined.

More specifically, the borderlines between the neurodiversity "spectrum", the autistic spectrum, and how both affect your mental health.

For example: Is there an area in the AS part of the autistic spectrum and the neurodiversity "specxtrum" that is part of both?

And is there a connection between untreated ADHD & BPD, and AS & AvPD/Schizotypal PD?

Right now, ASDs. Most often, the singular one that my mind drifts back to at every opportunity is a person or other, fictional or real. Of any age and gender and never a person I'm sexually attracted to or have any desire to meet, just someone to learn about them for as often as possible (which at the peak of the interest means scouring every version of every news story and trying to read every post on messageboards about them) and then think about the rest of the time. I use everything I experience, like TV plots and social situations and my own emotions, to feed my non-dirty, non-romantic daydreams about them. I always felt out of place in fan messageboards because no one else was ever there for quite the reasons I was, and I don't really understand the nature or appeal of those interests either, like a few other interests, but they're intense whatever the reason.

The Kinks, the Mick Avory era in particular. The Pete Quaife era before he left the group, as well.

Science, particularly Physics, Astrophysics, and Astronomy.

Also I love music.

Edit: And from the age of like 7 or 8, to sometime in 6th grade it was cats.

Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, Formula One and languages. I'm also really interested in Astronomy. I read constantly but mainly about one of those topics, or Harry Potter.

Building things. Cars, amplifiers, furniture, various machines
But this encompasses lots of other things, including:
drawing/drafting, schematics, collecting books and technical manuals, collecting and obsessing over tools, obtaining and disassembling junk (military surplus is my favorite junk).
Blacksmithing and metal-casting have entered into it occasionally when necessary.

Science; quantum physics, string theory, astronomy, geology, biology. But more the first two.

Science fiction; Doctor Who, Stargate, anything by Asimov and I'm quite fond of fellow Australian author Iain M. Banks.

Photography; concerts, special events, landscapes, animals, astrophotography, experimenting.

Music; rock, pop punk, hardcore, post hardcore, folk. Bands/artists; Brand New, Thursday, Bayside, You Am I, Anti-Flag, Phil Ochs, etc.

A bit of a Harry Potter fan too.

Overall I think most of my attention goes to Astronomy and Doctor Who. Does anyone into astronomy do a lot of stargazing? I take my telescope out on clear nights and focus on looking at the planets and messier objects in the sky. I try to take photos too.
