I don't really make random noises, and it would annoy me if other people did, even if they couldn't help it.

Toddlers and small children do this kind of thing a lot, and I'm lucky I can resist my urges to smack 'em.

^ Sometimes in the middle of the night. When I wake up and realize, I'm about to massively drool all over my pillow.

Aside from that, I generally stick to hamster noises.

I don't have vocal stims but my sister meows when stressed. It's one of the ways we know she needs help so it's quite useful. I only physically stim by stroking things etc.

Does anyone else do this as a stimming behavior? Sometimes it's one or two words over and over again, sometimes several sounds said in a rhythmical way, or it could be a series of animal noises. These are noises I just feel compelled to make, and so I do. I used to think of it as tics, but now it seems more like stimming behavior because I can suppress them when needed.

My friends don't bat an eye lid if I randomly start meowing..

I actually just realized that my tongue clicks/lip smacking/lip moving that I do is a stimm. I had just never thought of it that way. I just thought it was a random thing I did.
