Does my neice have a asd?
I do not know if my neice has a asd. She is 3 years old. she walks alot on her toes. people nick name her twinkle toes. People keep asking my sister about it. She flaps her hands also. when she is upset or when she is happy. she lines things up. likes to put things in order. she repeats what you say. she hates the beach becuase she doesnt like the sand touchign her. But she also has good eye contact. she talks and says lots of things. she likes going to day care. she plays with the other kids. she likes hugs sometimes. somtimes she says 'no' and pushs people away. she doesnt like mess. People have asked about ocd. she likes counting alot. watches artic documentry over and over for hours at a time. she loves interacting with people. seeks people out. has tantrums btu she can stop them. loves runing form one wall to the next wall and back again over and over while counting to 3 over and over. loves runing around the couch over and over. asks "what is the time?" over and over. every few minutes "what is the time?". is obsessed with seals. she hits the cat and spits on the cat. pushs the cat of things. some things sound like asd some things dont. it is hard to tell. her grandmother says she might have autistic traits but cant be autistic becase she is talkign and interacts with people and is social and makes eye contact and can stop her tantrums. so maby autistic traits but not autism?
She could have Asperger's, NVLD or PDD-NOS. She sounds a lot like me as a kid! I hated the sand, flapped my hands, lined things up, and watched the same videos over and over again. I counted and organized things. But at the same time, I had no problems with eye contact, and loved interacting with people. I played with the other children, albeit in my own weird way.
I have Asperger's...maybe your niece is the same way. Still, she's young, and these things could just be part of being a little kid. Anything else you can tell us?

?Evil? No. Cursed?! No. COATED IN CHOCOLATE?! Perhaps. At one time. But NO LONGER.?
she likes dancing. she is fussy about wehn and what she eats. her faovit food is crakers. somtiems she acts like she can not here you. somties people ask if she has hearing troubles. other times she has not trouble hereing. she likes my little poneys. she liks setting up her my little poney toys. she has lots of toys but her mum says she doesnt play with them. she just gets them out and puts them all over the floor and looks at them. she loves waving good by to people. liks it when people come to her house. even if she does not know the people. she will follow them aroudn and talk to them. she liks to answer the phone and talk to ther person on the phone. she is social. she liked her birthday party with some other little kids there.
The fussiness about her food could be due to sensory issues. And the thing with the toys - I've heard many stories about autistic kids acting that way. But the part about seemingly not being able to hear you, but other times hearing fine, is what really sticks out for me. Is she like that when she's engrossed in a task? In ASD's and ADHD, there is a phenomenon known as hyperfocus that can result in this. I still have this problem - if I'm reading or just very interested in an object I don't realize people are talking to me at all. It's like I'm in a different world.
If she is on the autistic spectrum, it may not even end up being a problem, as she sounds very sociable. She could learn to adapt and may even grow out of her symptoms, in which case she wouldn't qualify for a disorder at all.
I would suggest that her parents bring her to a developmental psychologist or autism specialist when she gets a little older. It would be bad to just assume she has an ASD without the input of a professional.
Good luck! And if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

She seems like a happy little girl. It's important that her parents know, if she is autistic; but it's also very important that she should get a proper childhood even if she does have one. Kids get lost in the middle of all the therapies.
