Are you loud when talking about your special interest?

Obviously part of this issue was from having my Ipod on (I tend to yell not meaning too.) but other times I'm told to SHHHH or calm down when I'm just really excited and energized to talk about X topic. I talk alot about them too. I remember back in College my Psychology said I needed a muzzle I talked so much. So does anyone know where I'm coming from kind of? I know I've made alot of special interest topics lately everything from how invested one gets to how long you've had one so sorry to add another to the list but I was curious about this issue. I know Aspies tend to be loud and not mean too at times (what is this called BTW?) Thanks WP members and sorry for all the topics lately.

I sometimes think I talk too loud, but people tell me I do not. But when I get excited and want to be sure about being heard, I know I sometimes add a little volume to the mix! Either way, though, I do tend to talk too much in the sense of going past someone else's actual interest or attention span. But for me, passing information along in any way I believe might be helpful is a big part of what life is all about.

My youngest brother is much more of a talker than me, however. He might call to let me know something or to ask a question, but then he goes on into whatever else comes to mind that might or might not even be related. I do not know what all of that is called, but some of us certainly have it!

Yes, I've noticed (and been told, sometimes rather rudely) that I tend to get excited and increase the volume when I go off on a tangent about a SI. I also talk faster, because I feel I have to convey as much information in as short a time as possible, because I know they're going to get bored if I don't hook them with some interesting information first.

Yes, that's when it's the worst for me. Anything science/engineering related will absorb all my concentration and it causes me to forget about voice control, and I tend to go to a fixed volume and tone which at times may be too loud for a given setting. This is why I can't talk about these things with just anybody. But even if I didn't have this problem, I still can't because other people don't want to hear it. It's difficult for me to imagine other people not being interested in things and issues that affect almost everyone almost every day.

I find it hard to verbalize my special interest. It just cannot be summed up in a succinct sentence.

Thus it is private, and rarely do I speak of it to just anyone. Bits and pieces come out here on WP, and only to very few.

Ok maybe the thing to do is to be slightly snobbish about sharing your interests. The rest of the world works on a system of perceived value, which may or may not have anything to do with intrinsic value. When you share too much too quickly, it's perceived that even you don't value what you say, even though by giving it away you haven't actually subtracted anything from your store of stuff like you would have if you'd given away a broom or a bicycle. Does that make sense? No? Well nobody said it had to.

The sept. 11 attacks made me feel a certain anger, bondedness and solidarity with the people around me that I never experienced before. Part of the development of one of my particular interests was at least partially initiated by this event. By working on something that will benefit everyone, and which everyone should be able to understand at least in overview, I hoped to expand my opportunities to connect with people. I have succeeded, because I have a few people I work with on this, but I can't share it with "just anyone" because that devalues it somehow.

I get excited and loud about my special interest, yes, and do tend to drone on about it when I find an audience. luckily I know someone who is studying some of the stuff I'm particularly interested in so I have someone to talk to! I try no to talk her ear off about it though, because I'm sure she gets tired of thinking about it since she's in classes and a teaching fellow and has to think about this stuff all day long.
