assesment on tuesday.....nervous.....

Hi there,
Well the day is almost here, have been waiting a couple of months for the assesment, and now its two days away....gosh I am nervous......I know I just have to be myself, but I am freeking out a bit.....any advice, words from someone who has had an aspergers assesment done reciently??

just had mine a few days ago and was very excited and nervous beforehand, so much so that getting lost on the way upset me more than it usually would so the first thing I did when I arrived in the doctor's office was burst into tears. I'd been waiting 4 months! I was finally there! I even got there after driving miles out of the way in the wrong direction!

they were so nice. I felt like I didn't get to explain enough, even after an hour interview. there were lots of tests, but luckily they were fun ones and they helped me relax (I'd done the MMPI-2 and a couple other personality tests a few weeks before so didn't need to repeat them).

I get to go back on Wed. to find out my results or if I need more testing. I'm excited and nervous again. I want to know what my deficits and strengths are so I know what I can reasonably look forward to in my future.

sorry to hear you got lost,I get really upset when I get lost too.
Ok, so you go back on wednesday, I hope they can shed some light on how to help you, that is what I am hoping for me too, just to get some help with dealing with life.....I feel so out of sinc with everyone else....

I guess the point of my post was that it wasn't scary, and parts of it were fun. I'm glad I decided to go see someone who specializes in AS in adults. kinda scared they'll tell me I don't have it because I'll be back at square one trying to figure out why I'm so weird, but I feel like I should be able to get some direction at least

They won't say that. If you think you have it you are probably at least on the spectrum, so if it's a no they will probably say PDD(not otherwise specified) or traits of aspergers.

My assessment wasn't really recent (2007), but maybe I can give some info anyway. If you have a decent clinician, they will explain what any test they might be giving you is for. They are also likely to ask general quesitons about what your symptoms are, your current daily functioning, etc. In my case, the assessment was spread out over multiple appointments, but I'm not sure if that is universal.
