I need deep touch to make me better when I experience sensory overload.

I was on my way back from the office this evening and feeling desperately tired and in need of a deep long hug to prepare me for a stressful day tomorrow, but I did not want to bother either one of my two friends who have agreed to be there for me to help out when I have autistic hugging need.

Now, if, like me, you have ADHD, you may also have such a big pile of clothes on your bed that you can't actually sleep in it, so you sleep in the lounge. Well, tonight that big heavy pile became really handy this evening. I crawled into it (with some difficulty), wiggled about until I found a comfortable stimming position, and lay there in the dark chatting a way to an aspie friend on the phone, with the weight of the clothes squeezing me pleasantly.

I will have to figure out what I am gonna do to achieve the same benefit once I have cleared away that pile...!

haha oh dear.

This reminds of a time recently when some girls took me partying (I'm in college) and if I looked ovwerwhelmed one of them would give me a hug :) It relaxed me and got me through the night. Ironically, I usually get stressed out when I'm in intimate contact with another human being, but when I'm getting overloaded a hug is almost always the best remedy.

Now I go to the parties just for the hugs lol

It sounds like you need a weighted blanket. Just google it. I plan on making one for myself soon.

I thought so too. I don't want to buy one off the Internet, because the cost of shipping a weighted thing to South Africa will be too expensive. How do you make them?
