Unofficially diagnosed by a variety of professionals from different backgrounds. Benefits received are leniency in completing my PhD. Not officially diagnosed, but not self diagnosed either.

unofficially by my GP, then officially by a psychiatrist who specialized in ASDs. later in life (when i was around 17) i was sent for reassessment for AS (with Attwood) but i was kept as HFA.

I am not officially diagnosed, but I was assessed by an AS specialist at an AS clinic who said I could treat the assesment as a diagnosis.

I later went to a psychiatrist (in my attempt to get ADD meds)..and he agreed with the assessment...but wrote PDD-NOS on my chart..

The official diagnosis was by a clinical psychologist, when a care worker who'd had some patients with ASDs thought I had AS. I found out that a GP friend of the family 1st suggested it to my parents when I was a child. :)

Initially,self-diagnosed. Soon thereafter, a couple of psychologists and a couple of GPs concurred. A fair while thereafter, seeking legitimacy, another psychologist and a psychiatrist also concurred. I'm presently talking to another psychiatrist. None of them have helped much.

I voted neuropsychologist but she was at the end of the diagnosis line. I first self dx'd which both my therapist and psychiatrist agreed with. the neuropsychologist gave me a wider view of my strengths, although I already knew more or less what they were.

Self diagnosis, followed by a "general" therapist who I'd been seeing for depression agreeing with me, followed by going to the Autism Research Centre at the Uni of Cambridge, so bit of a 'several of the above' answer.

Self-Diagnosis before finding out that my Aunt and School Counselor had come to the conclusion that I have it. Then, my college counselor brought it up to me two days ago. Hopefully, within a week or so, I'll have an assessment scheduled with a psychologist who specializes in Asperger's Syndrome.
