Maybe it's just me, but I have always been good at mimicing characters and people in the popular media. I believe that it is due to my ability to focus on something very intensely and pick up on details regarding the subject most people would write off as trivial. When I was twelve-years-old, I could mimic the voice of Homer Simpson so well it was frightening. By the time I was fourteen I could mimic Bill Clinton's voice with surprising accuracy. My ability to to mimic voices of random celebrities and characters has only improved with age. I became a fan of Bill Maher two and a half years ago and can impersonate his mannerisms and style of speech flawlessly. About a year ago, I was watching A&E Investigations, the episode was a biography on psychopathic killer Theodore Robert Bundy. They cut to a scene where he was being interviewed by a reporter while he was being held in a Salt Lake City jail on charges of kidnapping. He was lying through his teeth proclaiming his innocence and that the police knew that he didn't do this. Just by watching that interview, you can completely tell he is lying and that his charm was a fake as his facade. I reiterated the line he spoke "I'm not guilty" to myself, in a sense mocking him. I was very surprised at how similar my voice sounded to his through a seemingly effortless attempt to mock him metaphorically for his tacky performance. At first I was a little nervous, but I tried on a few more lines I remembered from that creepy interview with more effort; my voice sounded virtually identical. Today I am considering taking up drama as a hobby because if I could channel this ability to impersonate historical figures, I could be character acting gold. Who knows, they might even give me an Emmy, lol! Am I the only Aspie out there who has this strange ability to mimic/impersonate with a high level of accuracy?

I am good at doing voices, but mostly if I am quoting what they (Simpsons characters) actually said.

I think alot of us have a really talent for voice diction. It's a good thing for being a voice actor.

I found out the hard way that while I have a good vocal acting, I have god-awful physical acting.

I'm not good at voice mimicking (sadly), but I am good at acting. I think it's partly due to the attention to detail; plus I'm a very confident singer/performer so I've found in recent years (I only took up acting 3 years ago) acting has come very naturally to me.

Most of the jobs I've gotten have involved me acting as a "normal" person (I probably do well at this, as it's something I do in real life). I find however, that once I have to act in scenes where there is intensive two way acting and dialogue (not just a little, but a lot) between myself and another person, I fall short; the problem is to act with another person well in that context you both have to be really tuned in to each other's body language, expression, etc and obviously due to my AS I have difficulty reading this to the sort of professional level required.

I find I am often my best in solo monologue scenes (I did these in drama at my final years of school), and naturalistic televised type acting, which I've gotten jobs in.

I really wish I could get involved in musical theatre, and general live theatre also but because of being a full time uni student plus having a singing job I don't have enough time and energy to commit to the sort of intensive rehearsal schedules this type of acting requires. When I was younger I did some of this sort of thing so I have a good idea of the time commitment, stamina and dedication it requires.

I think a lot of Aspies would have trouble succeeding in theatre style live acting because of the toll it takes on your energy and the sort of hours required. I have friends who manage to do theatre acting while attending uni and it frustrates me that I can't do the same. Televised extra type acting pales in comparison to performing on stage.

I've been known to mimic cartoon characters from time to time, and when I've done so I've often been told I sound just like the character.

The great thing about me is that I am fearless when it comes to giving speeches/presentations and that I am not paranoid about making a fool of myself. In fact that has been my problem in regards to social interaction, I am too bold at times. I think I could thrive in theater/cinema if someone were to just give me the opportunity. I could possibly excell at portraying people throughout history because I can perceive and remember the most minute of details such as mannerisms, dialect, style of dress, interests and hobbies, what kind of car they drove, even what their hairstyle was at a paticular period in their life I can remember.

When I was little I used to act out these silly characters with my younger brother. That's the extent of it.
