Wasn't sure what to call this topic as nothing really made sense for it. Does anyone else see multi-coloured dots at night? This sounds odd but its like seeing oversized molecules or like when your TV isn't tuned in and has those black and white fuzzy dots (but in colour). The other thing is sometimes I have like a flash of colour. It's rather psychadelic colours and is very brief like someone just flicking a light on and off instantly but I can only see this colour for this moment. Does anyone else experience this or know what it could be?

Probably just hypnogogic hallucinations (very common when falling asleep or just waking up), or the random "noise" in your visual cortex. Perfectly normal.

I get that too, but I get dizzy for a second or when I try to focus on something.

i've had those dots all my life. when i was very young and my mom would put me in a crib (i was around two) for bed before i was sleepy, i'd entertain myself by changing the colors of the dots and making them do a sort of "dot ballet."

i was better at it then, i guess because now i rarely have a need to generate my own entertainment from scratch. thank heavens.

i've wondered occasionally if others see these too, but never remembered the question when someone was around to ask it of.

I've asked NT parent about this and they don't have it so I don't think it's all that common. Also since starting this topic I've taken more notice and it's not just at night but through the day too, it's just more obvious at night as there are no other visual stimuli to distract from it. The sudden flashes aren't when waking up or going to sleep they're just random at any time of day. Glad other people have this too but there don't seem to be many.
Odin I've looked into hypnogogic hallucinations and although I can relate to some of the criteria it generally doesn't fit due to it not being limited to onset of sleep. It does however fit that I do sometimes hear random usually single words sometimes as I'm going to sleep so it could explain that.
I should rpobably add that I also have epilepsy so maybe the random flashes could be some sort of seizure activitey?

I agree they are quite pretty :) I often wonder what other people see though. Like when it's dark and we see all the coloured dots what are they looking at? If it's completely pitch black do they just have nothingness or what? Must be broing being NT. No psychadelic colours, no thinking in pictures and no weird thinking. I think I'd probably miss my weirdness if they started curing AS

When I close my eyes I can make faint streaks appear, in any direction I want, just by thinking it. It's not even imaginary, but I really see it. I can see bright colorful red and blue crystals when I press my eyes, but I decided it's not good to do stuff to my eyeballs.

yea when i was a kid i used to press my eyeballs to see this red/orange swirly sorta chequered grid, i used to do it til it hurt and when i'd open my eyes my visual field would be all dark and then gradually fade away from the centre. and i also enjoyed pressin the sides of my eyeballs to see those rings of blue light too. they're called pressure phosphenes.

Yeah, I get that.
There was another thread about it a little while ago. Someone even posted a link to a Wikipedia article about it. I forget what the title was now.;;;

mine aren't in colour, but just white dots and streaks. It might have to do with when I was younger i used to close my eyes and push on my eyelids and I could fly through this imaginative world of stuff i liked, then at the end i would fly through what looked like a fridge door and that would be it. After that I'd open my eyes and it would take a while before I could anything in front of me.

I have the same thing. The neurologist said it was 'aura' from my migraines but now I'm wondering if it's a spectrum thing.

I have a migraine with aura, too. :o
I always take magunessium.

For autism, vitamin B6 and magnesium intake.
To prevent migraine headaches, magnesium intake.

I do not know that medical. :?
But get in gear.

I get pink or blue flashes sometimes. I'm hoping it isn't any kind of eye problem...

I think there may have been a topic about this here before, but, particularly if I look at a bright or white background, I can see thousands of tiny little bright dots moving around. The best way I can describe their movement is like miniscule fish. The point of distance in my vision at which I can see them is the point between where you can see floaters on the surface of your eye (I have floaters too; the dots aren't floaters) and where you are actually looking at something.

I get stuff like that.

One other thing I get when I'm in a dark room is a sensation that the far right side of my head is filled with a brilliant green, like pure green light on a computer screen. I don't get it all the time, but sometimes I do. It's very pretty .

Can anyone put the link on for the other post on this topic. I could try searching the site but I'm not sure what to search for.
