I think one thing that gives us aspies an advantage is the fact that we have a group of people who are willing to help each other out. We find jobs through our aspie contacts, we find places to stay when we're visiting other cities, and we help each other through the hard times.
I think its great that an aspie can go on wrongplanet and find another aspie who is wiling to share his or her home.
We need to stick together. If we do so, we'll have an advantage over everyone else.
I've let other WP members stay in my home while they were visitning the area and I've been given a place to stay by other WP members when I'm out traveling. We have the biggest advantage that anyone has. We have a network that allows us to do things that others wish they could do.
The closest thing that NTs have is fraternities and even those aren't as strong as what we have. Sure, a member of a fraternity might be able to find a place to stay at another fraternity, but it isn't guaranteed and the other guy will probably have other stuff to do and won't want to meet someone he hasn't met in person.
No, I think any group, aspie or otherwise can have a network like this, so I'm confused over this "advantage" you're referring to. For example, in some forums where the topic is a sports team, some members may attend games together and meet up at each others' places; people can build trust and camaraderie while indulging an interest which can allow them to do any of the things you mentioned. So rather than an advantage, it perhaps puts y'all on a level playing field if you want to COMPARE yourself to a social gathering on any old internet forum.
