Hi~

I am a speech pathologist at a high school and I have a support group that meets 2x/weekly for Aspies/HFA students. I have been asked to meet about one student, whom I do not know, who has had a foot fetish since 2nd grade and according to the middle school psychologist, is beginning to say inappropriate sexual comments to female students. He is currently in 8th grade and I've been asked to sit in on a meeting to problem solve this and help him.

I would appreciate any help from anybody who has been in a situation like this, understands the situation or can help problem solve so this student can be successful. I have some ideas but am most definitely, always open to new thoughts.

Thanks so much

KKW

Is there a reason that they are asking you - a speech pathologist - to talk to him? That seems a bit bizarre (circumstances aside).

I've never really heard of anything like the situation you're describing, though.

I'm assuming he's been told previously that his behavior is unacceptable?

This is really something that his parents should be working on with a therapist. o.o

Sound to me that he needs to be told that what he's doing is socially incorrect and why. The why is very important. If he keeps on doing it after being told why he shouldn't, he probably either didn't listen or didn't care.

Although, I don't think having a foot fetish is an AS thing (NT's have them too) it's that he doesn't seem to realise that this behaviour is socially wrong that's the problem.
