William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's 10th P.M. - ASPIE???
Greetings all.
I am posting this thread in response to another poster here who has asked whether any Western politician was AS-autistic.
If there is any way I could answer this Q, I would be doing so by citing Canada's 10th Prime Minister.
While I head out to the library to find out a little more about this guy, I invite you to do a search about him and let us know what you find. I don't consider myself the expert who can give a straight answer and neither am I aware how extensively Mr King's eccentricities of character have been researched, but I do have every reason to believe he may have been an Aspergian.
Various historians have wondered if Mr. King was gay or a nut-bar, but either way, he was a.k.a. Weird Willie. Below, I am posting what I have had time to find out about him so far:
William Lyon Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada: 1921-26, 1926-30, 1935-48
King had an odd hobby. He gathered stones from pre-confederation buildings being demolished in Ottawa and rebuilt them at Kingsmere, his country home in the Gatineau Hills. He erected many battered 'ruins' which he felt had a 'middle-ages' look.
King firmly believed in the power of Crystal Balls and rarely made a serious decision without first consulting his 'psychic'. It was only after his diaries were examined following his death that King's interest in the occult was discovered.

About Mackenzie King:
Mackenzie King was Prime Minister of Canada off and on for a total of 22 years. A compromiser and conciliator, Mackenzie King was mild-mannered and had a bland public personality. The private personality of Mackenzie King was more exotic, as his diaries show. A devout Christian, he believed in an afterlife, and consulted fortune tellers, communicated with his dead relatives in seances, and pursued "psychical research." Mackenzie King was also extremely superstitious.
