Hi all,

Is it possible to join a facebook group without letting of your friends know you're a member of it? What I mean is, I don't want a lot of my friends to know I'm an aspie (just yet) but want to join an aspie facebook group for support.

Is there anything in the settings I need to change before I join?

Here's what I found:

App settings >groups > only me, or customize, but this effects all groups.

App settings >groups >additional permissions> uncheck 'streams' - still affects all groups.

I don't see a way to block only a single group from view... it's all or nothing.

Personally, I don't think most people will notice or care that much about what groups you join. The chances of someone seeing you join a certain group, doing research on it and concluding you have something to do directly with it is slim to none. If anyone says something of that nature, they probably already had suspicions.

What you could do is not just join and aspy group, but join a bunch of 'disorder' groups like that around the same time. Changes the odds, you know?

Set up a second facebook account with a different email address, and just use that one for your Aspie networking.

Check your wall after you've joined the group, and click hide next to the announcement if it comes up you've joined. No one will know then unless they actually specifically look at what groups your in which very few would be bothered doing. If anyone questioned it you could say that your interested in finding out more about AS, instead of coming straight out and saying it.
