Question about GAU disability benefits. Help me out?
I've applied for General Assistance Unemployable (GAU) disability benefits at my local DSHS office and qualified & now i'm wondering how getting a part-time job might affect my benefits from that.
I mean, it's a seasonal job and pretty sh***y, but would they just pay me less or cancel my benefits altogether since i'd be technically employed then even if the employment is a far cry from being enough to live on really?
Anyone have any experience with this type of thing?
I tried calling their office to find out but their damned automatic answering system is confusing.
like seriously, would it kill them to have a real knowledgeable person answer questions?

I don't know about yours but my disability network will continue to help me when I find employment. It's not that you're suddenly cured if you find a job.

Maybe you should go down to your local DSHS office & inquire about it?
the eligibility has income restrictions thoughh.
if you're making more than $677/month, then it's really not worth applying for.
the benefits you get are $339/month and it's reduced more the closer to to $677 you make.
but after a year on it if you still qualify, the benefits double i think to around $678/month.
& after a year you can also apply for SSI benefits or GAX (another form of GAU, though i'm not entirely sure of the differences between them as i have yet to look it up thoroughly) i believe.
or on another note, there's also food benefits too if you qualify for those ("food stamps")
