I would like people to take this test and show me their results to see how they compare to my own.

I have been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome for about 2 years now but I have been recognising differences between myself and other Aspies which seems to put me in another category. It wasnt until being told about Schizoid Personality Disorder that I realise maybe I am different because this seems to fit me well.

I can see where you are coming from- I scored quite high on the schizoid bit as well. I don't think I have a PD, but I feel that OCPD fits me perfectly because I am a complete perfectionist and I do freak out when things don't go out as planned. I'm constantly seeing flaws in things and worry if I've done things right. I'm also (admittedly) quite self righteous and I hoard objects because sometime I could potentially need to use it (though I often have to force myself to throw it away).

As for schzoid PD, I do show affection towards others; I do enjoy people; praise and criticism is EXTREMELY important to me; rule are important to me; friends are quite important to me as well, though I'm willing to compromise friendships if I feel that something else is more important; I like reality just as much as I like my imagination.

However, I think many of the symptoms of SPD and OCPD in me have a lot to do with AS, to be honest.

Ack, I'm on that page now and a lot of those questions are hard to understand. I'd need more detail to be able to answer accurately.

For example one asks, do you like to be intimidating? Not normally no, but if I'm out alone at night, yeah, I'd like to look intimidating, because people would leave me alone.

I've taken these tests many times and I always hit pretty high on the schizotypal. Schizotypal is very misleading especially in terms of these tests, because the criteria need to be met to an absolute extreme for it to actually be diagnosed; and I imagine that is the case with most or all of these.

I'd guess anyone who registers within 2 standard deviations of the mean on any category based on this specific test (aside from maybe OCD) still falls within a rage that would be considered relatively "normal" and can basically be 100% ruled out.

schizoid and schizotypal sound a lot like Asperger's to me...

I've already been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder so this comes as no suprise to me...

I don't believe that this test has any bearing on aspergers - someone with aspergers isn't neccessarily anti-social, but as I see it just someone who needs firm boundaries and space - also someone who is anti-social or narcisstic may be very adept at reading another's emotions for their own advantage whereas someone with aspergers is likely to find it much harder to read another's emotions and probably less likely to take advantage of another person because they can see that that person's emotions make them vulnerable in this or that way... unless of course that person is also antisocial or narcisstic or sociopathic.

One shouldn't mix the different personality disorders as they are distinct, but can co-occur with other disorders. For example myself: I have been diagnosed with OCD, some aspects of BPD (because in the past I self-harmed, had anorexia, and have been impulsive in some of my decisions), depression, and aspergers. Do some aspects occur in some other disorders? Yes. But each aspect is not determinative of the whole. For example, one person who does not eat is diagnosed as being ill with some form of disease of the body, but another person who does not eat is diagnosed with anorexia nervosa- these two things may co-occur, or they may occur separately. It depends on all the aspects of the whole.

Anyways, sorry to lecture extensively on this - I don't have any qualifications on the topic so I really should shut up.

I have the usual reservations about the questions, there were many that were impossible to answer correctly without more information and using only a five point linear scale.

Makes perfect sense to me. I am officially diagnosed with Schizotypal, among Asperger and Dysthymic. I also have Dependent Personality traits.

whatever. I think psychology sucks.

I'm assuming antisocial here means anti-social personality disorder and not anti-social preferences. someone with ASPD can be very social...

One thing that I don't like about these tests is that they are all based on the person's self-awareness, which varies from one person to the other and can't ever be accurately gauged.
