Sometimes I realize that one ear can't hear anything and than I hear ringing but the other ear is the same. Does this happen to anyone else? I thought it would have to do something with hypersensitivity to sounds.

I know that when CRT Televisions are activated I can hear the electronics emissions coming from them. It could be that.

Yep totally......I also have ototoxic bilateral vestibulopathy(damage to the inner ears due to very strong anti-biotics)......could also be tinnitus.....

Get your ears checked by your doc, just to rule out any physiology.

But had what you are talking about all my life.......sometimes small noises can make my ears "pulse"(can't think of a better description)......

Mics.

over the years I have figured out the 'singing' in my ears is from me actually hearing the blood flow in my ears. I can hear the 'pulse' and can hold my fingers over my pulse points in my wrist or neck and the pulse is timed to my blood pulse. When I exert myself, I hear the singing pick up and when resting it diminishes. Depending on what I am taking or not taking for medication is what 'pitch' it is, too. I am sitting here typing away, hearing my blood (in their capillaries and arteries, of course) in my ears.

Yes, I get something that sounds similar to the OP. I also have constant tinnitus due to flying over the handlebars of my bike and hitting my head on the ground. But sometimes, it is as though somebody briefly turned down the volume in one channel of my stereo listening experience, and I'll hear a particular note. Then it goes away. I didn't know it happened to anyone else! I wonder what it is.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with hypersensitivity to sounds but all I can say to this is that it's the reason why I'm often listening to music. The ringing of silence is louder than music in my case. I think I can hear electricity because it happens more often in my room which is small and has lots of things electrical plugged in.

I get that too. I rest my ears with ear plugs. It seems to help a little. It started again when I started mowing the lawn again, and I use ear muffs AND ear plugs when I mow. I use a high quality European sound system for my TV so I can have the volume as quiet as possible and still hear what they're saying.

These days I have a constant summer night of humming crickets in my ears - sometimes louder than others.

Was not always this way - I would have spells whdere one ear or the other would do something strange, but no real tinnirus

Ringing in the ears can also be a sign of hearing damage. When the ear loses the ability to hear certain frequencies, the brain actually inserts those frequency into whatever sounds you may actually be hearing, in order to compensate. However, the brain doesn't know if those frequencies are actually present in the environment, so they sometimes show up as steady ringing tones.

OK, those people think they have been abducted by aliens. That renders their opinions useless.

I often get a high pitch sound first in one ear, then moving to the other one. It only lasts a few seconds a time. I think it's a fairly normal thing to have.

I used to get a ringing in my ears, when I used to listen to loud Punk music. I don't hear that, any more.
