I was at a van & RV truck-in this weekend, and I won an interesting competition this past weekend, and even staged up some well-seasoned mechanics on it! The spark-plug competition works like this: You have a cylinder head placed in front of you with 4 spark plugs in it. You must remove the spark plugs, and install a new set, properly tightening them down with a wrench. The thing is, it's done blindfolded! You do, however get a chance to place your wrench, your loose spark plugs, and the cylinder head where you wan them before the job. Then, the stopwatch is started!

I was able to get it done in a 1 minute 13 seconds. The closest time was 2:03. It was particularly easy for me. I have been working in dark locations, only going by a sense of feel for a long time in my job as an AV tech, and while working on my own vehicles, so this was not too hard. I got a great mental picture in my head of where all my stuff was before I started the job. Many of the others had a very hard time locating the parts, and couldn't remember where they had set them down in relation to other things. I also excelled in the tedious part of threading the spark plugs into the head. I got two plugs started, and spun them in with both hands at the same time. This saved considerable time loosening, and tightening the spark plugs. Others had a hard time just spinning one in and out with their hands!

I imagine AS has played a part in being good at this task, along with having trained myself up to good dexterity. I truly amazed everybody at how quickly and precise I did this!

That's really cool. Not everybody can do that sort of thing.
