Depends what angle you're looking at it from.
One of the early mistakes i made was focusing on *what* we do, rather than *how* we do it.
So some typical charictoristics might be flapping, spinning, reciting prime numbers, train spotting, collecting coins, reciting film scrips word for word, solving complex mathmatical problems.
All of that is very valid and very aspie, but personally i don't care about any of it. It's just flavour and interesting aspects of being autistic.
For me the real true parts of being aspie are how you deal with situations, your thought process, your beliefs, your reactions. So for me the true characteristics of AS (remember it's a spectrum, not all of these apply to everyone) are -
Linear thought process
Lack of intuitive decision making
Introspective thinking
Extreme/over/high levels of thinking and analysis
conscious requirement to consider emotions in decision process.
Those are probably the things that most impact who i am and how i live my life.
