"Clubhouse" support and Asperger's

I had the opportunity to sit in on a presentation on the "clubhouse" style of rehabilitation today. For those as unfamiliar with the subject as I, clubhouses are places where those with mental illnesses can go to receive support and a positive environment in which to socialize with persons in similar situations. They offer employment help and often ask their members to help run the organization on a volunteer basis, which I find to be a great way to build self-esteem and work skills.

My question is, is there anything like this out there for persons on the autistic spectrum? The clubhouses in my area only work with mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar, and schizophrenia, of which I happen to have none.

This is teh first I've heard. Usually there are just things sort of like this for people in socio-economic distress. It souds like an interesting idea, though.

I go to a clubhouse for people with mental health issues. There are some members who are on the spectrum, due to depression or anxiety.

So everyone who goes also has another issue other than an ASD? What exactly qualifies one for membership?

You have to be diagnosed with at least one persistent mental illness, such as depression, anxiety, OCD, Schizophrenia, or bi-polar.

There is a place in my town especially for people with high-functioning Autism/whatever you want to call it. I guess I should go but well, mm.
