So who here is laid-back or rigid, whereabouts on this spectrum do you fit in this world of worlds?

I would say I am laid-back in surface demeanour but rigid underneath

I would say I am mellow on the outside, rigid on the inside.. I have many family members and folks tell me how calm, mellow, soft-spoken I am with 4 kids , but inside I need things to be in total order, routine, cut to the chase, no nonsense form..I have my nose pierced, several ear piercings,a long diagonal bob shaved at the nape, so I look rather laid back...but I am very disciplined internally.....

The things I am rigid about I do myself. If I want something cleaned a specific way it becomes my job. Because of this I'm considered fairly easy going. I also have a tendancy to be the calm one in most situations which adds to this opinion.

Basically I'm rigid with myself, and easy going with everyone else.

I am generally laid-back nearly all of the time.

Before i became a mother, living with people that i have to cooperate with, dependent on someone financially,my sons papa, and responsible for someone, my son, i think i used to seem very laid back; i was sooo easy going, available, flexible, etc, tho in fact had plenty of very rigid personal habits which noone saw; they only saw me prepared and ready for flexibility.
But since motherhood etc my rigidities have become visible, at least to son and his papa. I freak about the papa moving something which we haven't discussed beforehand, however small, and about times; when son started karate classes it meant we couldn't linger over the saturday morning shopping as before, so for 3/4 weeks we didn't do any proper shopping, because i just couldn't tolerate the new framework; we got by on little, local, and expensive, shops. But after 3/4 weeks i had managed to adapt to the new times, so we leave earlier etc ! !
I've realised that i'm not laid-back about anything really, which has been a bit of a shock cos it was one of those "social skills" that i had acquired which was very successful. :?

I am definately the most uptight person and of my friends and family have ever met, and I'm always being told so. I do the same things each day - and I literally have it down in five minute blocks - from waking up at 5.30 until getting home at 3. (Then I do different stuff). If my routine is broken I become "Agitated". I cannot stand things to happen that I'm not prepared for.

This describes me quite well. Except, I do lose it from time to time, but no one would know save maybe my husband, and mom. It's the little things that I meltdown over. It's never the things that I usually see people getting all up in arms about. Being a mom, and taking care of a house is the only thing I've ever been good at. I can keep calm as long as things are on schedule. Mess up my schedule, and I freak out.

People percieve me as rigid, but I'm not. I'm very, very, very laid-back and prefer to be in a mellow, calm state 24/7. That's because I'm a very sensitive, nervous sort, and things stress me out easily and I can get pretty wound up sometimes. I prefer to avoid feeling like that, because with my EFD, it's hard for me to cope with and move past anxious feelings. All self-discipline goes out the window when I'm stressed out, and I become rather impulsive. I'm much more "constructive" and rational when calm and unstressed.

I think it depends on the situation with me. I tend to be able to think on my feet, so am seen as somewhat flexible and laid back. However, I hate disruptions in my routine and they really freak me out. We have huge rows at my house when my husband thinks he can take over the clicker. Or he keeps putting it on the HD channel antennae which does nothing but completely confuse me and irritate me. I can't stand it when the seasons are over on telly shows and then I have to find something else to watch because I've seen everything. I hate summer as you can imagine. Thank god for last comic standing. I hate it when my husband moves my piles or wants to make changes to accommodate someone other than me. So, I'm fairly rigid at home. I guess I have to be too flexible all day, so I need the structure at night.

Yeah, that pretty much describes me, but it depends though. I am like this most of the time, but certain situations and/or people tend to bring my rigidity to the surface. I am usually rigid at work and I have a reputation for being a little nuts.

I'm very laid back, as long as I can have things my way. ;)

I choose my battles - everything in my kitchen has a place, and if things get put away wrong, it bothers me. My desk is the same way. But the living room is a "relaxed" place where things can be out of order, and left strewn around.

I'm pretty rigid, however with five kids I have had to learn to be more accepting of other peoples perspectives and behavior. Still, when faced with stress, my immediate response is to believe that there is a well defined and well organized systematic solution (which might require the input of others besides myself to be determined) and I don't think this would be anyone's definition of mellow.

Rigid. I am the rock that does not move at all.
